The years pass and the tides shift, and it was inevitable that the population of Martyrs´ Vigil would in time grow, and attract others with its more "unique" aspects, and so life would breathe into the Castle-City, by new arrivals from out west, fresh off the boat, or the raised youth of the land.
But who are you?

The Aenish Migrants
Quote:A traveller, newly arriving to the Peninsula of Meranthe from out west, your boat came through the Bay of Tears, to the lands of the Theocracy of Aen, the (maybe beloved, maybe despised) homeland."Might have come looking for work, myself.Could have come for the view though, you never know.Or maybe I was in it for the excitement and an escape.
Then again, could be bluffing and I just woke up after a wild night.
Wont tell you why I boarded the boat, but best I can say?We all had our reason to leave."
Perhaps you hail from its core regions, or even the Capital, or your own roots may trace back to the vast regions belonging to the very same, such as Doria or one of the many others unnamed City-States.
Yet the true question is, what brought you here?
- A citizen of Aen, from any walk of life, race and region of the largest Kingdom on the Continent of Aegis, allowing for vastly different experiences.
- Your reasons for coming to the Land of Amier are your own, perhaps you are an exile escaping the Theocracy, a young scion seeking to make a name of himself, or some sort of academic far too curious for their own good. Or it could just be a job seeking opportunity, away from the safety of your home city, and away from national service.
- Why this settlement? A good question, that may tie into whatever personal motivation brought you to these lands, yet perhaps the most simple are likely the two facts at the forefront: For it is both a city with the most cultural ties to your Homeland and its Church, even if they have both been altered to adapt to the local customs, and the boats of the residing Order have began to travel westward, to the ports of Aen, for both trade and passengers.
- Only time will tell, if you shall adapt and survive,or if you will be ran out, or even killed, by the locals, for the last expedition funded by Her Majesty, Queen Irene II of House Godwyn, did not remain unscathed.

The Children of the Oldest House (of Hope)
Quote:A native born in the Peninsula of Meranthe, but struck with misfortune at a young age, for you are an orphan, be it one made by abandonment, the tragedy of fate, or a victim of the wars to occur throughout the years."It is the duty of the faithful to be there for those in need of His light,
And thus guide them to see it.
As iron sharpens iron,
so one man sharpens another."
The eldest amongst you will likely go as far back as to 2087AC, during the aftermath of the fall of Aphros and its escape into unreality, for those with family that desperately tried to hold their ground, or refused to leave, despite orders to evacuate or even a war-orphan from any of the other conflicts of that era, long before the Tribunal itself was established, yet The Order travelled.
For the period of the Indefinite Crusade, your childhood was truly gone in this time of war and strife, yours was the upbringing of a squire and aide for the Men-at-Arms of The Order, or its Magi Knights, you were not afforded the luxury of remaining children for long for the sake of the war effort, even if you did not see combat until the age of sixteen, or perhaps never at all, you were raised and taught as a soldier.
You were denied your youth, so the next generation could have theirs.
Yet with the establishing of the Tribunal, and The Order acquiring a home of their own at last, peace had come, and with it a change of expectations and upbringing, for to educate was a moral duty of Pylae´s House of Hope and its caretakers.
- A native to Meranthe, in some way or another, far more used to the local culture and the primordial pantheon, even if your knowledge may be fleeting depending on your age.
With it, comes a vast option of origins, be it from cities now gone when The Order was still active, such as survivors of Audhild, remnants of the Sainted Enclave, Dorian stragglers of Camp Invictus, or the fleeing lost from the Old City of Aphros, who did not heed the call into unreality, or those of its destroyed vassal state of Blood Rose once ruled by the Batkin of Clan Adaira, their homes lost, one to time, the other to war.
- A ward of the Tribunal of the Everyman, and the Goldlight Order, raised in some manner by either, depending on when you were taken into their care, the oldest amongst you may have had little in the way of a formal education beyond a military upbringing as a sort of squire, while others may have had a more moral-philosophy oriented upbringing as educated by the Overseers of the Tribunal.
(Military Academic War-Orphan vs the Sunday School Converts, take your pick)
- Martyrs´ Vigil has long been your home, be it due to The Goldlight Order having taken you in for years, or due to it being the most familiar place since you lost your own home, to the point you may even have some nationalistic pride in what it stands for, or you may not.
But that does not permanently bind you to the settlement, for as you come of age, your choices are your own, and your horizons will broaden.
- The eldest amongst you would be around the 25 to 40 range, those orphaned in the fires of Skarnfel´s Height and Sheol´s grand revelry, when the Fel waged war across Meranthe, raised by those of The Order with discipline and utilitarian need as pillars of your duties, yet never allowed the taste of battle till your teen years.
You were denied a youth, so that those that came after you could keep theirs. You may feel envy for your younger "siblings", or you may take pride in this sacrifice, to the point you want to give them what you never had.
- The youngest playable will likely be in the 16 or higher range, taught and raised under the benevolent indocrination of the Tribunal, you were afforded a proper childhood even if it was a far more religious one, for you were never sent off to war. Instead, you were taught of the works of the Tribunal and its morality, and raised upon stories of heroes past, of chivalrous knights, gallant heroes of ancient Valmasia, the extraordinary feats of the Aenish Saints and more.
An impressionable mind, filled up with idealistic values, heroic tales and a disciplined morality. The real world may yet crush you, or perhaps even enbolden your resolve.

OOC Notes:
- A role hook emporium with no mechanical benefits tied to it, beyond a creative source of backgrounds and a settlement to support your character, and as such, there are no limited slots, you dont even need to apply to make a character with either of these origins, the form just helps see how much interest was drawn, and give an idea of what sort of characters might suddenly show up to accomodate for.
- Any unique benefits, including heritage or starting class roles are up to the player in question to app for, but hopefully the listed origins help with creativity in creating a background or concept ideas.
- The Spawn Point for Martyrs´ Vigil is, as of current, not yet available but will be worked on when the IC year gets to 2112 likely, an update post WILL be made when I know its up.
- In the same way, there is no real restriction on race selection (within reason, looking at you magical beasts and demons), as long as it makes sense for either option. Aen-born nonhumans will have vastly different origins compared to Meranthe-born ones, for example.
