a letter to you, the one i've never seen

Hello again.

It's been some time. How are you? Doing poorly, I hope. I hope your farmland has perished and you've been forced to subside solely off of the donations of your followers. I hope that your wine has all soured, and you're forced to soberly face the nights alone, free of any inspiration or cloaking of the dark reality of your isolation.

I've been counting the days, and it's been approximately 5 years since I last asked for your blessing, and was met with silence. Ever since those 5 years have come to pass, I've never once uttered your name when partaking of a loot box, or a hand in Blackjack. I've had mixed results. Sometimes, I win. Sometimes, I lose. This leads me to believe there's only one possible conclusion.

You don't even recognize me enough to hate me. You're turned too far away to see how brilliantly I shine.
Or perhaps your realm is just far too exciting to take the time to look down on us?

I don't blame you. I'm bored, as well. And so, since we're both bored, I've decided to share with you the things that I've done to, hopefully, turn this continent into something worth writing about again.

I don't sing- I'm not some showgirl like your followers tend to be, nor am I a bard. What I am, however, is a storyteller. And for the last 5 years, I have been crafting a perfect story. A tale of heroes, and villains. The Adventurer's Guild has already given birth to several masked heroes, and I've planned out many more to be released in the coming days. But what they don't know is that I've also been giving rise to villains. I've antagonized those in and out of the city subtly, sowing the seeds of dissent. I've marked the territory of demons, inspiring an anger that won't soon be forgotten by attacking their young.

There is always the chance that the ones I chose to play the role of antagonist don't do a good job. And that's fine! I already have contingencies. As long as the heroes don't waver, all should go according to plan.

Soon, this tension that has been bubbling over will erupt, and masked heroes and demons will fight over the fate of Meranthe. Beautiful crimson paint will mark the walkways, and a fight of good and evil will be born- just the way it's supposed to be.

And on the eve of that thunderous, final chapter... you'll come.
And you'll watch, eyes glued from beyond that illusory veil.
... and then you'll sing for me.

Mestra shall sing the song of Ceres, the Weaver.

Send me a reply. It's not too late to earn my favor back.
Don't keep me waiting, old friend.

(Unless you are not real, in which case you would keep me waiting.)
ooh or give me keys in all of my luxury boxes, then I'll definitely know you're real.

Sincerely yours,
Ceres
