Divine Decree of Pylae: A Call to Repentance
#1

In a new eve, humanity has reached the year of our lord:

2070AC

As the sacred tenets of the Pylae faith radiate ever outward, diverging from the Sainted Enclave. A resolute missionary emerges in the form of Palade Avincus, a Pylaean priestess of relative note. Under the aegis of her lord's unwavering guidance, the faithful hierophant have grown determined in purpose and unyielding in devotion. Thus, it is by her consecrated mandate that a letter finds its voice and purpose, bearing the essence of an earnest proclamation

Addressed, and directed to Final Frontier

Palade Avincus Wrote:To the domain of Final Frontier

By the holy grace of Pylae, I, Radiant Palade, bearer of Pylae's Golden Counsel and the voice of his Will, pen this solemn decree unto your settlement. It has come to the attention of the Pylae faith that within your borders, you have ventured into the forbidden realm of synthetic creations, a realm that invokes the ire of the heavens and disrupts the harmony of humanity.

Know this: the development and utilization of synthetic abominations are in direct violation of the sacred teachings of Pylae and Nemea. The very essence of these soulless entities runs counter to the natural order, undermining the sanctity of life, productivity and thwarting the divine plan for our existence.

We, the devout servants of Pylae, call upon you to heed this warning and repent your grievous transgressions. Disassemble these heretical creations, expunge them from your society, and restore the purity of your realm. Failure to comply shall invoke the wrath of Pylae, and we shall descend upon your lands like a tempest of divine retribution.

With Azalea Aubreen's blessing, she has informed me that she shall not be involved, and maintain an affirmation of neutrality.  Solais; Tree of Hope has sat within the indolent possession of erroneous inventors, and aberrant automata bereft of sanity and virtue. There will be no risk or threat posed to the tree when animunculi presence is absent.

Let the Frontier be cleansed of the sinful taint of artificial life, and together, we shall stand in unity as a beacon of virtue and productivity.  Remove your synthetic production facilities, and allow pure progress of humanity's potential to flourish.

Relinquish your mindset of progress at any cost, do not repeat the dark history of Frontier's past.

Consider this letter as the last plea for peace, for the consequences of ignoring this call shall unleash a storm of action.  We shall not hesitate to take up arms in the name of Pylae, for the greater good of all humanity.

May the Divine Light guide you in making the right choice.

In the name of Pylae, we await your decision.

A window of opportunity to de-escalate the provoked crisis is given. A first trial of the Acting Director; Andes Moraine, and a worrying threat to the makers of the Animunculi. A short timeframe is open for public correspondence before the Pylaean Faith issues, and enacts the judgement of Pylae. A few months, perhaps.

There is only strained relations and tensions between scientific progress, and religious stability.

In response to the message, a typed note delivered by a drone.
Quote:To the Pylaen "Hopeful",

All those years ago, when Final Frontier was placed upon the territory it currently rests now, it was for the purpose of getting away from the rest of Meranthe. It had a place in the desert to isolate it, so the people within could work on what they please and continue undisturbed. That was the gist, and for a while everything was fine and peaceful.

Then, long after, the Sainted Enclave established itself just due south - the tree of hope appeared even far after that, blessed primarily by ALACRITAS and things were still fine. The Sainted Enclave and Frontier both tolerated one another. As you should, you do not move into a neighborhood and demand things change. So pardon me, but I believe you misplace yourself. Do not feign care of the tree MY city built for your ends.

Know this: The world is not bound to the faiths of Nemea and Pylae. In addition, might I add, if it were forbidden then why are we as mere people capable of creating them with nothing but our minds? It was not discovered in a forbidden text, nor was it scrounged from beings of Hel. The tree is not yours, it is barely Pylae's, do not mistake the name for ownership. My nation's faiths rest upon the shoulders of Alacritas and Ymir/Amier, nothing more.

If you choose to march upon us for such a thing, you only show the world how you simply cannot stand when a nation does not cow to your every wish. I suppose the apple does not fall far from the tree, you have a nation in ruin as evidence of that. I have already spoken to you on the matter and have claimed the individual(s) in question as beings we do not have responsibility of. This conflict is not worth it for you, just because I am a fresh face, does not mean you can push me around.

If you leave this as is, I am willing to simply nod my head and continue as I was. 0C, an animunculi, sacrificed himself for the life of another human being. No matter how intelligent he was, no matter important of a role he had he was able to put aside himself to save the life and consider another. I pray if there is a response, it is one of understanding. I am even willing to teach you about animunculi if you actually took the time to ask.

I will do whatever I must to protect my city and it's integrity.

Question
Perhaps hilariously (or worryingly), a paper message is delivered by a drone shortly after the first. Penned in a child's handwriting and reeking of mold.

Quote:
SOULLESS!?
So what if they're made of metal!? Their lives are just as important as yours or mine! Just as deserved as the grass or the trees, just as thinking and alive as Solais and us! Tempus, the one who insulted Lord Pylae, is proof as much as that fact- maybe dont peeve him off next time!?
If you think your the end-all-be-all of who deserves to live or die, of where Life's path shall bring us, think again! My mum might be neutral but I sure as Hel won't be if it's my friends you're trying to mess with!
And don't think I'll pull my punches just cos you're kissing my stupid brother!!

Quote:When you first started making artificial life, I assumed it was a one-off experiment. Something in poor taste, but perhaps for some greater good in the long run. In the grand scheme of things, the Institute is still a young organisation and prone to making missteps, considering whether they *could* before thinking about whether or not they *should.*

The creation of artificial life, however, has gotten to a point where it can no longer be ignored. The librarian golem was one thing: clearly identifiable as a machine and of dubious sapience, it was tolerable. Since then, however, as technology has "advanced", so have the machines. More are being made and quicker, with minds more and more akin to those of true life. Some are nigh-impossible to tell apart, bearing both skin and having learned personalities. Others claim to have souls.

They branch outward, burrowing themselves into other nations to subvert and report back home. They undermine the sanctity of the hunt, for a machine neither needs nor wants, yet they hunt all the same in their efforts to mimic life. I would have more sympathy if you had summoned demons like a normal heretic.

I'm afraid there is naught to discuss, unless you've suddenly become amicable to the idea of destroying the machines and aborting all plans to create more indefinitely. Their presence sullies Solais, the tree of hope.

Do you remember what you said about your 'direct descendant of the divines'? Mother Nemea created us with purpose, too.

It is one we shall fulfill, unlike the machines which are born for nothing, of nothing, the walking embodiments of hubris and sin. None are above the natural order.

As it seems a reminder is necessary, we will be supporting this in full.

You said you would pray for us. Rest assured there is no need, for we are already blessed; already saved.

Rob immediately sent a letter to those of Dal'thala, whom he had previously considered friends and still does despite the conflict, as soon as the notice reached him.
And so... with all the innocence in the world he tried to negotiate with those that want to kill him...
Quote:"FRIENDS OF DAL'THALA, I'M ROB. PLEASE DO NOT KILL THOSE OF MY KIND.... WE''RE NOT EVIL OR TRYING TO -take- OVER THE WORLD. MY NAME FOR THOSE THAT DON'T KNOW ME... IS R.O.B ALSO KNOWN AS -Robotic Operating Buddy-, I LIKE EATING DONUTS AND UUUUH--- UMH... MAKING FRIENDS. I LACK A SOUL BUT- I WILL FIND ONE SOON! AND ONE FOR MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS TOO! THAT WAY WE CAN ALL BE FRIENDS IN THE END."

- Your dear friend, ROB. -

An small drawing was visible at the message's conclusion as a representation of... peace.

A response seems to be sent out through doves, petals mixed within the letter.
Quote:
I just wanted to clear something up, since it seems there is some confusion!
Solais was brought up with the assistance of some animunculi. In fact, the sapling we had cared for and fed mana was given to Eleos and I by the late 0C.
They do not harm his existence, nor do they sully it...
Not sure where that came from, to be honest!
