Applications are one of the trickiest parts when trying to get or earn something. A big reason for this is that most people tend to be concerned as to what they should be posting or what they need to do to get their signatures. Naturally, the biggest answer is that it is dependent on what you are applying for. So in the case that you applied for something major and found yourself denied, don't be disheartened and keep at it with the applications. Now, to help with everyone's applications moving forward, we at the application team tend to look at several factors when discussing and looking over an app.
We will be discussing each factor and explaining in detail what we'd like to see concerning these factors:
- Development: Perhaps the most readily misunderstood factor, and undoubtedly the most important factor: development. Now it is easy to believe that development is largely tied to just their character alone, or perhaps that development is tied to the heart-pounding battles that you might be fighting in the wilderness or even in raid battles. But the true answer is that it isn't! In fact, most development needs and tends to happen outside of combat as a whole. And some of the questions that we tend to ask ourselves when looking at the apps concerning development are:
These are just some of the questions that we tend to ask. And as an additional advice on this particular item:
Yes, Rebirthing out of spell trees does require development as well.
- Narrative Impact: One of the major factors that we tend to look at as well is the character's narrative impact, this is particularly towards the heavier signatures but we do take this into consideration just as well for most, if not all signatures. Narrative impact does not simply mean that you are writing a compelling story within the microcosm of your immediate group, but how that impact of yours also affects those further away from your immediate group. This could be done through indirect impact, or perhaps the actions of your character having greater effect to the extent that even those outside your immediate group feels the impact and develops from it. And of course, narrative impact towards your own group is also considered important and benefits your applications, especially when it majorly affects the development of those within your group too.
We enjoy seeing development that affects many others. Part of what we discuss and the questions that we ask are as follows:
- Consistency: Another factor that we look at is the character's consistency. This is the last of the major factors that we tend to consider when looking through applications. Consistency is a factor that both denotes the character's IC consistence depicted through their actions both within and without, as well as a factor that denotes the activity that the character has been demonstrating. A character that has both a consistent and compelling story to tell, while also consistent in their activity and the actions that they put forward, the higher the chances of getting their applications approved.
Of course, that isn't to say that a character cannot be double-crossing other characters or have a deceptive side, but it refers to how their consistency has been reflected throughout their journey -- or their gradual descent. Some of the questions that we ask regarding consistencies are as follows:
- Logs: One of the things that we use to check closely on your own development! Logs. Logs, to some, may feel a bit of a chore to gather and collect then link to their applications. But logs are considered heavily important to one's application, especially if the impact and development that they've generated and shown thus far would have us wanting to see more. To be able to discern how one's character has been developing, and how impactful or the size of these scenes are. Of course, a summation next to the logs themselves would be just as useful and allow us to understand exactly what you are taking from the logs. But, we do consider logs to be a large factor just as well.
A few factors to take note of when gathering the logs are:
- OOC Behavior: Some people might not realize but their OOC behavior and the LOOC behavior that they exhibit tend to reach us just as well! And these particular factors can be defining of how a player's applications are taken. Behavior can be indicative of how a player would use the power that they'd be given, and particularly unwelcoming players that tend to exhibit problematic behaviors may find that the lucrativeness of towards their applications.
- Current Power: Lastly! Another factor that we tend to look, of course, is your current power. This is largely in reference to how many signatures you have, how often you are winning your battles, how large of a threat you have been. These are all directly proportional to your impact, meaning to say that the larger you have impacted the world and the overall narrative, the less of a concern this ends up becoming. Having multiple signatures increases the scrutiny that we look at apps with, naturally.
That should be about it for ABILITY APPLICATIONS. Now, as a quick reminder on our part just as well, we will be briefly tackling Item Applications as a slight advice on our part. This is largely so that people who might be looking to create their own uniques, or assist with their creations thereof, to be able to see what we hold the item applications to:
- Development: Rather than just heaping dev mats onto your items / uniques. We do like to see development towards it, how has the development towards it gone? Is it just the traditional crafting of the equipment directly? Are you going with tried and tested method? Or are you searching for creative ways of developing towards your unique? Perhaps your unique's development and crafting has influenced your character's story as a whole just as well?
- Materials Used: The other major factor that we look at. Heaping dev mats by themselves without proper development, or developing greatly without much being used will both affect the final results of your items directly. Hence why our advice is to find the right balance where you are investing enough materials, but also developing towards it creatively and uniquely. The materials used also correspond to that of the ores or dev mats that you are using. Are they used properly or in unique ways? Are the metals, in game, that you are using directly tied to what you are asking for?
- Logs / Crafters: And lastly, we like for item applications to be properly developed and cultivated just as well. While some solitary scenes are fine, in general: the more crafters working on something and the better the scenes are composed, outside of just the idle exchange of working on it in unison, the better it will be for us to discern how well developed the uniques are.
Our general advice, really, for uniques is to not treat them as an investment dump of pouring metals, materials, resources and 2-3 scenes of working on it then assembling it but to treat them very well as character-defining uniques. The more cohesively the unique is made, the more impactful for it for your character, the better it will be taken when we consider them. Please do not treat uniques as power ups, but treat them as a tool to push for your stories just as well.
Now,
We hope that this carefully written guide will assist everyone who may be looking to apply.
And as ever! Have fun while apping, have fun while looking back on the scenes you have done. Do not be concerned at getting denied for something, as we typically do look at your applications and discuss it thoroughly. The most important thing to know is that a great factor in application is accepting the feedback, then pushing forward from the feedback given.
We will be discussing each factor and explaining in detail what we'd like to see concerning these factors:

But the true answer is that it isn't! In fact, most development needs and tends to happen outside of combat as a whole. And some of the questions that we tend to ask ourselves when looking at the apps concerning development are:
- What has the character done in particular towards developing the signature in question?
- In what creative ways have they sought to develop their signature, particularly with others?
- How has their development impacted and stirred the development of the people around them just as well?
- Was their development done in a compelling way? Does it develop both towards the signature and the character in question?
- What pushes them towards this particular signature? Does the development that they've shown suit it?
These are just some of the questions that we tend to ask. And as an additional advice on this particular item:
Yes, Rebirthing out of spell trees does require development as well.

We enjoy seeing development that affects many others. Part of what we discuss and the questions that we ask are as follows:
- What has this character done to impact the characters immediately around them? The main group that they interact with and the main people that they interact with?
- What impact has this character generated that affects the overall narrative? What actions have they done and initiative have they shown that compels others to develop further?
- Has the character made a compelling story that also includes those that may be around them, or interested in joining the narrative that they have created?
- Has this character's influence assisted with guiding the general narrative? Or the narrative of the people that they largely interact with?
- Consistency: Another factor that we look at is the character's consistency. This is the last of the major factors that we tend to consider when looking through applications. Consistency is a factor that both denotes the character's IC consistence depicted through their actions both within and without, as well as a factor that denotes the activity that the character has been demonstrating. Some of the questions that we ask regarding consistencies are as follows:
- Has the character been active recently? How long has it been for the character's overall existence before they applied for a signature?
- Have they been generating activity and developing outside of battling and roaming in the wilderness? Have they been active in their scenes thus far?
- Are they a reactive force for the most part? Or have they been initiating on their end, generating activity for the others and including them into the fold?
- Have they been meeting the goals that they have indicated? Working towards their goals?
- Logs: One of the things that we use to check closely on your own development! Logs. Logs, to some, may feel a bit of a chore to gather and collect then link to their applications. A few factors to take note of when gathering the logs are:
- Are the logs compiled in a cohesive way? Are the logs themselves of the particular scene, inclusive of the build up towards it?
- Are the logs posted accessible to us? Please always ensure that we can read the logs that you are posting.
- Have the logs posted indicate the above factors that have been requested? Are they compelling scenes that have impactful moments within them?
- Are the logs purely that of white text? Are they just a brief exchange of one to two posts?
- OOC Behavior: Some people might not realize but their OOC behavior and the LOOC behavior that they exhibit tend to reach us just as well! And these particular factors can be defining of how a player's applications are taken.
