Waves beat softly against the hull of small boats.
There was no warning or raised flag to signal war or peace.

When seabattered hulls struck the shoreline with the roar of seafoam breaking on a jetty, there was naught but a whimper in the night. Sailors report clamor of strange and misshapen figures in the misty dark: of great and ugly crows circling the skies of Mina Solis like a dread omen in the final hours of twilight. There is no allegiance to the strange things that prowl the night shore, but they just as quickly beat a path, leaving half-eaten bodies and burnt-out husks of what had once been the prospective homes of fresh-eyed young men and women seeking a new homeland far from the well-settled and bloodied shores. Countless souls with no design but to escape their past.

But the past has a way of catching up.

No leader or name presents itself, and no preparation is afforded: but what is clear is that they will leave nothing but smoking ruins left behind, and an island reclaimed by the wild and the elements. Their enemies dance in mad costumes and have no siren song or lofty coordination: conducted like a fevered dance of rituals that carves quick across broken homes, chasing survivors just as fast to the final refuges, savoring the best for last: the estates and port of one Roman, and his newfound colony seeking to plant roots and grow it's shores. The light of a candle snuffed as quickly as it was born, and whatever was once there taken as sacraments for strange rituals overseas if they have their way.
