So it is, that the grand moot of 2035, the moot to decide the fate of Necromancy within Vdalion has come and gone. And yet the question hangs still. Rather than meet Surtyr on the field of words, we instead allowed the farce of a banishment to occur. Banishment or death, for the blood of a witch? Whose life was bought and paid for the moment her name was set down in the book of shadows? A quick and easy path, yet I cannot help but wonder if this was not her purpose from the very beginning. A sacrificial pawn meant to widen divisions within the heart of Ymir's people. Already the division turns dark, already conflict grows between the two sides.

Surtyr is too proud by far, blinded by the possibilities of restoring our people, to the detriment of restoring our world. What does it matter if our people regain our ancestors divine potency, if the price is to further fragment the already broken powers of Ymir? Ymir gave our people a gift and a duty. For a thousand years have we enjoyed the benefits of that gift. For a thousand years we have endeavored, though not without stumbling, to live up to that duty.

The ten primordials, the children of Ymir bear the greatest weight of his power. But they are not alone. For they have children of their own. And even before they begat their own broods of children Ymir left his own mark upon mortal kind. For in the blood of giants is Ymir's gift of power. A fragment of the cosmic giant's essence. A fragment so frequently invoked to bolster our authority, and yet just as frequently forgotten when we speak of his restoration.

A gift begets a gift, and one day, the people of Ymir will be called upon to return to him what once was given.
