Oicha's Wacky Rides

Event Preferences: Anything, as long as you give me the creative freedom to put my own spin on things.

Other Notes: I will not ask what people prefer for rewards in the events, if you ask for a hellfire sword while you're in the deep sea I will laugh at you. Rewards will be thematic > What you personally want. Though I will try to give what is asked for in the event post itself.

Are you currently running events, and if so, are you considering player requested events?: Yes, I will consider any events posted at me, and look through the forums every once in awhile.

Which Event: Into The Mines

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?):
The whole event, which encompassed 3 encounters with traps inbetween, was only 2 hours! Very quick responsiveness and he was well prepared with posts written beforehand.

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?):
Battles were quite balanced and fun, though they moved around a lot and had CC immunity- it made landing beams or other hard hitting moves (such as shadow cannon) rightfully difficult and/or impossible. But their stats were well compensated, and the only time I really questioned the balance was when he messed up and placed one too many Storm AOEs- and he recognized and apologized for it, so it ended up fine!

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?):
The buildup was interesting, the golem funny and thematically appropriate. The mention of dwarves was a little out of place as the Storm King himself wasn't mentioned to be a dwarf, and what exactly he was doing in those mines, could be chalked up to senility.

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?):
For a CoD, two of the members only received Arcanium and coin.. not great? Part of the issue is that we actually missed a dev material by completing a puzzle successfully.. I feel you should not be punished for that, even if we would've had to fight for it if we did fail!

Overall: Positive first event! Hope for more Big Grin

Which Event: Into The Mines

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?):
It was well done and amazingly quick. We were all under the impression that it was pre typed, due to how quickly everything was, but we were wrong. They are seriously impressive at their speed here. Didn't make anything drag on at all, REALLY looking forward to seeing more of that in the future.

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?):
The battles were fun, fighting a giant worm, onto the Golem who gave us a test (Which I did fuck all for.), and then an Undead Necromancer Dwarf king thunder god. A lot of fun. There was some parts within the last fight that there were some adjustments needed and they did so quickly. Felt fair enough to me barring one round.

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?):
The narrative was fun, the build-up was amazingly well. I adored the golem, like, seriously. One of my fav NPCs thus far. I will protect him with my life.

Over all, it met the standards, and was fun!

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?):
Any punishments were earned fairly, besides us being speedbugged I think it was overall good. Not too harsh, not too light.

Now I'm a little miffed about the rewards, not much to say that hasn't been shared already. No need to put it here. (No drama from me folks)

Overall: Great for their first event, can't wait to see them grow as a DM.

Which Event: Volcanic Venture II

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): The narrations seemed quick and full of information.

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): The puzzle and traps were interesting (though I had to go afk for a bit when escaping the traps), missing a slight bit. As for the battles.. this would be my second event (that isn't a world event). It was nice to see the patterns, and for something that was a supposed to be challenging, it was. Though, as someone who is a melee character, and an unarmed at that, it was exactly as I expected. Incredibly nice, not sarcastic at all, to see what rushing at powerful dragon as the self-proclaimed greatest martial artist would be like. My allies probably feared for my safety watching my health drop. Bringing a knife to a gunfight type of situation, and I was the knife-wielder. I volunteered for this even after knowing who the final boss would be! However, if I were to join an event in the future, it's to prepare Burden, as I foolishly thought that Energy Shield would an okay replacement.

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): As someone not from the first part of the event, I did my best to understand what was going on.  For what I did find out about it, the contents of the narrations were great.

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?) There were things that could have been done on my end to lower the amount of pain that I received during the fights. Seeing X ally's hp being near full while mine being depleted a good bit easily told me it was a skill issue. For what my character is, I was expecting a permanent injury out of this event, and enjoyed seeing the one that I received. As for the rewards, I came into the event knowing that only X amount of people would be able to have some, since there was a group of 10 PCs. However, the greatest reward was to experience the event and being a part of something somewhat big (and the new title that I can now add to my character). The coin reward will most likely be used to fix my injury, but with how cool it is, maybe I'll leave it untreated.

Overall: 10/10 experience. I would jump into the flames and take 80% of my hp down again in the pursuit of doing something that might be even the smallest bit cool. A slight regret is not rushing in to attack the boss when it had a sliver of hp left, but when you only have less than 10k hp left and can go down in one attack, with AoEs on the floor as melee, I hesitated. Then again, though cool to do a last stand rush at the boss, it was not fitting as my IC against the dragon may have been the weakest. I very much enjoyed the RP for the final hit from those who had the most IC for this fight.

Any other comments: I apologize for the times that I went absent. Hopefully, it wasn't too disruptive. Sarte's IC to joining this event. Overheard preparations for fighting a dragon and volunteered because it sounded interesting, fully knowing the pain that would come.

Which Event: Volcanic Venture II.

Responsiveness: Quick. I expected a much longer wait time given the huge party but they were really timely, even narrates that had to adjust to the new scene. They also kept the event moving if anything lingered for too long.

Balance: Oicha asked for balance takes mid-way through a fight or two just to make sure their spell usage wasn't too oppressive. I don't think there was ever really any complaints. Everything was fair and it seemed like everyone else in the group agreed. Never used any crazy-crazy spell combinations and kept patterns in the battle, allowing for us to recognize and adapt.

Storytelling: A great successor to the first. It felt seamless even with a new DM. They changed some parts up to create a more unique, varied experience as well which was refreshing. Essentially the Star Wars Sequel change of directors but done correctly.

Fairness: The rewards to injury ratio was pretty fair. You don't go into this event expecting catered elemental power rewards to each participant or random-out-of-place items, instead more thematic items catered to the event itself. So anyone expecting an easy-loot chest should probably go elsewhere. That said, I can't complain about any of the rewards. They were all fitting, we got some of the things we were looking for in particular and what we missed in specific rewards, they made up with coin and chances of getting rare ore through traps, etc.

Overall: Really enjoyable. It wasn't a chore getting everyone organized and the DM was happy to work around our schedules. Once we set a time, we managed to stick to it (mostly) and after accepting the event, I think it only took a week or so to iron everything out (I didn't check dates so don't quote me). I recommend people give them a try because I had no problems. It was a good several hour event escape. The traps and puzzles were also cool, and had simple solutions that you just had to think how to solve.

Any other comments: Appreciate you being kind and accommodating despite people jumping in and out of the event. Not to mention the large party size.

Character: Shaggard DeGray
Which Event: Volcanic Venture II.

Responsiveness: Very fast, I did not feel like I ever actually waited for a narrate, they were all more timely than the actual RP time of the party.

Balance: It was exactly as hard as it needed to be to justify us killing an ancient black dragon, the amount of perms acquired in the event reflected perfectly the danger of the task, and Eitr may very well have died if he hadn't rolled so many 6's.

Storytelling: For not being the original DM for the event chain, Oicha still managed to flawlessly expand the original lore and even add in fascinating side characters in the form of the ancient spirit, leading us to actually have some additional investment when it finally came to the last battle. Well written and done, old boy.

Fairness: At no point did I feel I couldn't have gone down if I used my immunities right, I came into this event with blessing weakness and Age DR expecting to die. It was very well done for managing to make a party of healers actually tense and stressed, and that's the best way to do a truly deadly event.

Overall: As likely the last big event I'm going to do on Shaggard before max age DR, I must say it was definitely one of the more enjoyable ones I've been on in a while, and it completed a great arc for Vdalion as a whole after the original whoopsie with releasing the black dragon in the first place.

Any other comments: 10/10, would sacrifice Adonia again.

Storytelling: A great successor to the first. It felt seamless even with a new DM. They changed some parts up to create a more unique, varied experience as well which was refreshing. Essentially the Star Wars Sequel change of directors but done correctly.

Fairness: I stole Epoch's post here before, so I'll say it but for real. At no point did we have no chance to survive, every battle was both difficult and achievable. We could have died, but we didn't through luck of rolls and grit of the gathered party. The black dragon fell through no small feat, and ultimately all sacrifices necessary were madee.

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?):
Quick responces, if anything they were mostly waiting on us to respond! I didn't feel like we were waiting at all for a response.

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?):
Quirky fights, quirky results (in all of the good ways btw) Every fight definitely felt thematic in all areas. Traps where the best part honestly, I loved the time trap with all my heart

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?):
The narrative was fun, the build-up was amazingly well. We got to beat the fuck out of a dragon, I was pogging and screaming

Overall, It was a whole ass blast

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?):
They were tasty, they were juicy, i loved them all.

Overall: it was super enjoyable. I got snatched into it last second due to [redacted] and enjoyed it all.
Any other comments: Bless your soul, this was a journey and i loved every second of it.
