This Emporium is there for players who want a loose connection to another character in Meranthe without having much limits to their own character.

There is no demand or request of loyalty. Stede hasn't been there for your childhood after all, so there is no reason for it. You want to grow up to eventually kill the man? Go right ahead!

Same can be said from Stede, too. A blood connection might ease things down, but if you want his favor? You'll have to work for it.
