"Once, there was an outpost in the far north, at the edge of the northern sea, where volcanic vents spew lava into the icy waters. Some Enterprising Giants set out to mine the rare metals that bubbled up to the surface there, but it was not long before the shipments of ore ceased coming. The team of Huskarls sent found that the outpost remained, but all the giants who had manned it were suddenly gone. There were signs that the miners had gone into the tunnels beneath the volcano, but the Huskarl sent to search also never returned."
