Sand/Metal Costs in Rpp
#1
Earth attunement 15
-----
Sand:
Golden Bolt 25rpp
Binding Desert Burial 25 rpp
Barrier of Sand 15
Sandstorm 15
----
Metal:
Metal Lance 25 rpp
Binding Chains 10 rpp
Crushing Iron 25 rpp
Iron Grip 20 rpp

Okay this is a 95 rpp investment on its own for either and its a lot. They're good tree yes but the new rpp costs just punished it. It will be the lesser of choices now when we could have just dialed back mechanics for both Sand and metal in damage and perhaps implications instead of making their costs crippling. Any thoughts guys?

ehh. controversial.
imo the changes make the abilities cost what they are worth but still it doesn’t do any justice to the current meta.

Not to disagree/agree with your post but isn't the point of a nerf to punish something?

the costs are more or less debilitating and make it so youre centered around that tree if you want to invest. not much potential to mix it with something else. 4 spells for 95 rpp could really leave a gap on your bar in the end run

The point is to not be able to branch into xyz freely but to have to think about the actual build itself. People were literally skinny dipping into both trees just for the hell of it.

... yes. Thats the point! You're not supposed to invest because it's strong but because it's your IC

These costs mean that being a Racial/Metal or Racial/Sand Mage is a nearly pointless effort. As a drakanite Metal mage, I barely had any RPP to play with, and that was back when I was able to get Metal for dirt cheap comparitively. (30 RPP for lance, 15 for Crushing Iron, 15 for Iron Grasp, I didn't buy Binding chains because its bad.) Which was an overall cost of 80 RPP, including earth attunement. (My end-game goal was to get either Occult or Gravity, as I could afford one other tree of magic, that was all.)

Drakanite Aura/Scales is an overall buy-in of 20 rpp. So, enjoy having a total of two spell trees in total, without any of the other elemental specializations being an affordable second tree.

but yeah good changes for humans

It should also be noted, Sand and Metal magic have no means to grow on their own, unlike some of the other more expensive trees. (Cosmic, Holy, Occult, Etc.) As the two trees have four spells each, and no hidden spells to work towards. So, you're forced to use some other tree to fill in the remaining 8 slots on your hotbar, and to get a decent aura from.

They're stupendously expensive for such specialized/restrictive trees.
