Emris, in ages now passed, was once a most noble name. At least, noble to those outside of the workings of the Noble House itself. Isolationist scholars and researches of Aphros in it's fledgling state many years ago, they would allow the hubris of Enarr's Blood to overtake them and drive them down unto the paths of sheer depravity. Believing themselves to have the Authority that the wise God himself had, they sought to take control of the forces of life and death and bend them to their whims..
Such would not last for very long, given the internal politics of the family and the cannibalizing of the Aethertouched to rise up that crooked ladder they built themselves. The isle where the House of Emris set itself was set ablaze by the forces of Aphros in the Second Age, turning their necromantic sins into naught but ash and cinder- or so was hoped.
Given the rise of the followers of the Fiend Tal, Vaelrun has felt a terrible omen. Should this be a resurgence of Necromantic Magics, he could only wonder what could be taking place upon that scorched and twisted homestead. So? He returns to his ancestral home, to ensure nothing is left behind to be used- and to purge whatever may fester in those crumbling halls.
