"Fortune Favors the Crow"
Origins
House Gregoris' origins began in the 1800s. A down-on-his-luck human grifter named Alabaster Gregoris found himself so desperate that he chose a risk, high reward target, a noble faeborne for his next victim. While his schemes failed to stick, he earned something much more valuable- her interest. The faeborne used Alabaster as a muse for dark and grim art pieces. Their dynamic blossomed, and the two eventually fell in love. Soon after their wedding, she mysteriously died. Alabaster inherited everything, asserting himself as a noble head. Stories circulated about her death, but patrons of the arts saw this as what it was for, an excellent inspiration when writing a tragedy.
Nowadays, members of House Gregoris are known as the Crows of Delphina. They are excellent storytellers but also deceivers. A member of House Gregoris could naturally be a bard of Mestra or a cunning politician. With the right words, dramatics, or flair, anything is possible to achieve.
House Gregoris' current head is Elodie Gregoris, a young woman who embraces her ancestor's macabre tastes.
Midnight Magnifique
The existence of House Gregoris is unique in two aspects. Of the four major houses, House Gregoris is the only one run by humans, and the house's sole deity of choice is Mestra. This foundation has allowed House Gregoris to take a unique approach to noble life- a philosophy called the Midnight Magnifique. The general idea of this philosophy is that there is value and beauty in even the most unsavory of people and places. The house symbol of the Crow is representative of such. Outwardly they are monotoned scavengers, but they are also creatures of fortune and companionship.
Because of this, House Gregoris focuses more on one's use rather than their status or appearance. Even if the methods are lurid or grotesque, House Gregoris has no issue with it as long as the job gets done. There are limits though- such as necromancy, which is a perversion of beauty in their eyes.
In recent years Midnight Magnifique has applied to Delphina's new Greathive allies. House Gregoris has been staunch supporters of the hive since their arrival, but word on the street is that the current Mattriach hopes to cement something between her house and the hive-queen.
Panache
A fight is not just a test of strength to House Gregoris- but a battle of wits too. It is certainly not unheard of for a member of this house to mess with or play mind games with an enemy. One story goes that a particularly skilled illusionist of the family won a duel before her opponent could even pick up his blade because she convinced him he had already won.
The Coterie
The people who serve House Gregoris are known as the Coterie. Members of the Coterie can be a jack of many trades or focused on honing one skill. Many are artists, fighters, bards, or a mix of all three, but if desired, the most valuable tool to House Gregoris are the ones not directly seen. Rumors circulate that assassins are under the employ of House Gregoris, but if that is just another story or reality is to be determined.
