Ruined kingdoms littered Esshar. Devasted by natural causes, overthrown and turned into disarray from civil unrest, conquered and destroyed in wars... Those were common ways any mighty kingdom could be brought to its knees and made a mere shell of its former self. Lukas felt drawn to these ancient ruins, tomes told captivating stories, this one far more interesting than the rest...
In the southernmost regions of Esshar rests a kingdom of interest. One that raises a question:
'What lengths would one go for the one they loved?'
The tomes tell of a kingdom under the reign of two rulers, married, deeply in love with one another. They existed in bliss until one disappeared, the product of unrest, sources claimed. As the text puts it, the other raised Hel itself in search of their beloved. The kingdom fell into complete chaos and subsequently destroyed itself from the inside out. No one knows what happened, why it happened, who did what. The bodies of the two rulers were never found, none heard from them since, decades upon decades passed. Searches concluded.
Lukas would embark to this city, to see the extent of the lengths the ruler went to find their beloved. Did it align with their own? Thoughts of such a union, one official, circled through their mind for months on end. Just what exactly bound those two together? A ring, a pendant? Sources say how the two wore such eye-catching, matching rings on their left hand.
Were they lucky, to even find their bodies, let alone unlooted, they'd claim such rings and use it for something special.
