Quote:Taipan Lewra, Lawyer, founder of his own agency, drug kingpin and patron of Hel.
Sirenians and humans can't have children, your parents opted to adopt. Your father handled that process, searching far and wide for cases within orphan schools where students perform exceptionally. Either in diligence, innovation, grades, or any accomplishments of particular note. Furthermore... it seems he specifically chose to pluck you out of poor conditions.
Perhaps it was to inspire dependence, perhaps it was of genuine concern for your circumstances, perhaps it's a mix of both. Regardless, he paid quite a bit to have a private sit down with you, and with a contract in place... everything was laid bare. Lots of risks, lots of opportunity, lots a child likely couldn't fully understand. Still, you were one of the few that took it all in and accepted that opportunity rather than turn away from the fear.
You spent 5 years with your mother and father... and despite the repertoire? Your father wasn't stern or controlling, he'd been loving and worked hard to make you want to earn his approval. He's had quite the experience as a father already, and acclimates to your presence quite quickly... it's honestly a bit surprising the lengths he goes to make sure you're happy, you went from rags to riches and were taught the proper decorum expected of a Lewran. It becomes less of a sketchy affair and more of a proper familial relationship over those five years. He handles all your studies in anything that might interest you. Artifice, Alchemy, business and politics, manipulation & information control, law magic... and some of the more discreet topics can be discussed, at rare occasions only to gauge your interest. Combat isn't his field of specialty though, as potent of a mage as he is. For that, you want to speak to your mother.

Quote:Cerdryn Abyss-Tide, Pirate captain, business woman, eldritch horror, herald of the Deep One.spaceYour mother wanted some Sirenians in the mix, but she loved you all the same once you arrived. Capable, caring, and quite possessive. She's often regale you with tales of her own adventures out at sea, and wherever else those adventures would take her. A lot of them seem too impressive to be true, but she seems to always have a trinket to prove it. One normally expects pirates to be rowdy and unruly, you wouldn't expect one to have a mind for business... but your mother seems to prove that's untrue.spaceIt takes quite a bit of business sense to properly accumulate wealth and riches. Pirates know who to rob, when to rob them, how to best handle all kinds of 'business transactions'. The more you learn of her, the clearer it is why she got along so well with your father. Still, that love of freedom within her was more than clear. It didn't apply just to her, but to you as well. In the end, you finding your own way in life and living with your own mistakes is of great value to her. She took a very sink or swim approach to parenting. She clearly loved you, and showed it a lot... but if you picked a fight you couldn't win? That was on you, and you had to deal with the consequences.spaceThe sight of her tendrils would often surprise you, especially early on. She's clearly no longer an ordinary Sirenian, possibly undergoing her own transformation... but after some time that sight becomes normal. Those tendrils start seeming more like extra arms she has. Throughout your childhood, she'd often teach you of the god she heralds. Stories of the Deep One, the betrayal he'd experienced... and the fear of being trapped beneath all the pressure of the furthest ocean depths that make her sympathetic to his plight. She values your freedom, she wants you to learn of him because she doesn't want him to be forgotten... but you following her in the Deep One's path is left as your own choice. Still, she helps you prepare for any troubles you might face. Street smarts and general smarts to boot, with her own little path of forbidden knowledge you can follow that she still expands on... but mainly she takes the main role in preparing you for any scuffles you might find yourself in. Your father fights with words, your mother realizes that they're sometimes unnecessary.
¤ Four slots, 2 humans and 2 sirenians. You're adopted, so appearances are up to you, but you're going to be raised to be rather refined.
¤ You spawn 1910!¤ You have two older siblings, Mya (A razuka, long story), and Circelia. They may not be around the house as often as your other siblings though.
¤ Your dad had you sign your name into his book when he adopted you. It might not take affect until you're older, and it might require you to sign yourself in again properly when the time comes, but you're expected to sell him your soul and become his witches/warlocks. Through legal loopholes and shenanigans, while your soul is still sold to Hel, he's your patron.
¤ You're raised in the Lewran residence & office in Novus. Publicly speaking, your dad's the Novus ambassador, privately he seems to have quite the sway there though. You have access to quite the library for all of your research dreams.
¤ Your parents delve into a lot of things other consider taboo. Your mother's a beginner fleshcrafter and studying riftmancer. She's continually training and working on projects. Your father is the only master Law Mage on Esshar, his contracts can transfer permanent injuries and kill. He's also one of the very few people capable of producing enhanced Sylvanum. If you prove yourself, your parents would be willing to teach you a thing or two.
¤ Though it's never forced on you, alchemy and artifice interest is greatly rewarded. Both of your parents are alchemists, your father's a runecaster with the best tools for runic inscription at his disposal. Your dad's happy to help with any projects. Whenever, and whatever.
¤ Your parents have a treasure trove of dev items, they both have projects of creating powerful unique weapons. They might be passed down to you if you earn it. And if they don't die before they're done, but the groundwork for them is already laid.
