Must I Drop This Blade?
#1
A loose page inside of Sabrione's journal, one spewing out her salt and rage for the average magi.
And her own doubts.
Quote:
"Must I drop this blade?"

Such a terrible question that I've been asking myself, lately. I feel comfortable holding one in my hands, I feel great when I slice into people, but I just can't get close enough to make it work. The idea of adapting to the environment and the possible assortment of opponents around me is tempting, but I hate it. I despise the idea of tossing the YEARS I've spent reading old weapon manuals, improving my own attunement to fire and flames, and the recent honing of all of these skills with my friends and allies.

Magi. So afraid to get in close to get their job done. They do not wish to get into the thick of battles in order to achieve victory, the ones I've seen so far only wish to stay far away from the opponent as possible and make sure everyone else doesn't get a chance to touch them. And yet, it works. Somehow, in some way, it FUCKING WORKS.

I've seen what capable swordsmen are able to do, even ones that aren't assisted by magic coursing through their veins.
In my point of view, they are the most elegant. The most honorable, being able to retain their integrity.
(A small illustration is then drawn out in the journal.)

Every fight against one looks like a dance, filled with violence and bloodshed. Each performance being entirely different than the last. With each person taking a hold of the blade, having their own style and methods. One could assist themselves with explosives, some may cover their blade in a layer of earth. Another might forsake the idea of attuning to magic at all, only using the weapon on their hands.

In comparison, magi are stale. They only focus on what is popular, what is the most comfortable. What has the least amount of risk, and the most amount of power. They go with this same ole' song, until their bodies return to the earth beneath them. It doesn't matter if they can shoot crystals out of their ass, or bend the water around them.
They are cowards. All of them, sugar-sniffing COWARDS.
