Cursed Star and Black Hole

Long ago during the wars of Divinity a rebellion erupted within all tiers of creation. The stories of the angles and the primordial which fought within these wars are well known. Documented by the divines themselves and passed down unto the peoples of Eternia, at-least the viewpoint of the winners of that great conflict has been passed down. The stories of those which were defeated within that great rebellion? Now those tales are much harder to uncover.

One such story details the fate of the red star of Change whose original name has long been lost to history. Originally a star within the paw of Leonaus, during the second divine war the star lead a rebellion against the greater entity which it helped make up or perhaps it was merely used as a weapon to try and break apart the constellation. Whether the truth is sentience or it becoming tainted is a mystery that few know the answer for sure. What is known is that the star lost and was cast out from the constellation. 

However, the rebels failed in that great war and this twisted star was cast out of the paw. Hurled through the depths of space where it was twisted into something foul. The lion's paw became known to the lands of Eternity as Crom Cruach, the tainted star. One can scarcely see its dim glow within the night sky. Seeming to the novice magi to be alone within the void. A barely visible speck of red all alone within the sky.

Those who make pact with the star find themselves taking on the mantle of Herald. Blessed with the star of change's gifts so long as they channel their efforts in continuing that war lost so long ago. Becoming a nemesis to the followers of Leonaus. Often these heralds learn quickly that the star is a jealous thing and one must take by force more and more power. A corrupted mirror in many ways to the teachings of the Celestial Church.

For those who attune to Crom Cruach they will quickly discover that while the star appears dim in the night sky. They shall uncover the horrifying truth of their patron. For they will come under the eternal pull of a black holes energy, the engulfing abyss of Charybdis. For this void has latched itself onto the star of change and began to consume it. Pulling from the souls of those unfortunate enough to be freshly arrived. Plucked from the surface by the voidic entity, or perhaps collection of such things.

The history of Charybdis is not known and perhaps there was no history to begin with. For it is only in the dimming of Crom Cruach that the void was noticed at all. A leech upon the celestial scale and one that found its attention inevitably drawn to those of Crom Cruach and the mightiest of which would earn the monsters favor as they too, hated the light of the lion. Perhaps this symbolic relationship is how the objects in space remained in a loose balance. 

Perhaps knowledge of these celestial objects would have remained obscure. If not for a certain demon spreading their tale within a nascent realm, known as Nanzonia.
