Vanirhalla, the origin of Azen Locthwain’s heritage, a land dominated by a bevy of migrating warring clans all aiming to rise above the rest and achieve godhood. Each do battle in the worship of their chosen champion of the triumvirate, each follow the tenants imposed through either dogmatic worship, through song, through war, or through cultural appreciation. Many clans of come and fallen through the annals of history, some lost forever, some etched in stone…others thrive through only whispers and folktales.
Before the era of the current Vanir, before the worship of the triumvirate, before the introduction of mortals ascending to godhood came the Jotunn. The indigenous of people of Vanirhalla were by all means a people of war, but also of progression and understanding. Their knowledge of nature, of ingenuity, of technology, was once ahead of its time. While still primitive in todays standards, it is said that the art of Rune Writing originally hailed from their understanding of language and the natural occurring relation to will and magic.
The Jotunn, were a massive people, towering over buildings with even the smallest of Jotunn reaching over 20 feet tall at will. Their power over their body came from the knowledge that the vessel was more than just a shell that held the soul. The vessel was an extension of ones will to interact with the world. The power of will, the embodiment of emotion, translated into the influence one brought upon nature. Godhood, supremacy, angelic power…all of these things were negligible to the Jotunn, in their minds and philosophy, they were *equal* to each living thing that was birthed in the realm of Eternia. Each living things capable of wielding magic, was a god, a primordial, a deity, and only their imagination and understanding limited their connection to their power.
Before the slaughter of the Jotunn by Red God Garljing on the Feast of Reckoning, a flock of them, using their understanding of magic fled the realm. They hid their massive size to blend in with average society, and overtime the power of Titanmancy slowly trickled into non-existence. There are few of the great Jotunn Titans that still exists, in the recesses of the darkest wild, where their understanding of sin and virtue alike allow them to thrive in battle and serves them well. The location of one…in a place only known as the RED PIT, hides potentially, the LAST pure blooded Jotunn. His only goal, to reawaken the force of his bloodline and reconnect and reignite a heritage lost in time and blood.
