An infernal light glows bright

Across the continent, figures in black robes begin to prowl in the dead of night. They wear masks with empty eyes and pointed fangs, a slight glow visible in the empty sockets. By day, they seemingly vanish, only to return the following evening.

These figures whisper of forbidden magics, and a place to learn of them. They murmur of dark arts, and practices long outlawed, and a being who will teach them.

For a price.

They speak a single name to those who show interest in these teachings, before resuming their incessant preaching.

"Valamandos."

Feel free to DM me on Discord (Osterix#5347) or find Valamandos in-game if you'd like a scene!

Day by day, the amount of black robed figures grows. At first, they came in small groups of three, or four. Eventually, more begin to gather in backwards places, large groups of figures clad in that strange, eyeless mask and clothing that allows them to blend in with the night.

It's not long before they begin to speak more openly, more reverently. Though they still speak of offers of teachings of the dark arts, and powers beyond imagination for those brave enough to seek them out, they also begin to speak word from their master himself.

"Our beloved children, we call to you to join us. No longer need you fear persecution, or retribution. No longer need you hide from those who would seek your demise simply for wishing to learn the truth."

Their hands reach high, as if to embrace the heavens, as their collective voices continue ring out as one.

"Those who seek to learn the truth, those who seek to learn of arts feared by civilization for it's potency and potential, seek us out. Fear not, for soon we will be holding a sermon, where you might learn more in the company of those who would call you brother and sister."

And then the gatherings disperse, only to reconvene the next evening, beginning their preaching anew.
