No longer bound purely to the realm of experimentation and theory
No P.R. management for this update, this message is directly from Taipan Lewra. Law Magic is a very real force, as potent as any other school of magic. I have specifically researched the field of Contract Binding in recent times, and have mastered it to the point where it more resembles a science than a collection of theorems. My quill remains the forefront tool for contract creation, however I am now certain I can not only teach others what I know, but that I can product contracts of reliable results and quality. Henceforth, I will continue to better my understanding of Contract Binding, as well as delve into other fields of Law Magic such as Edicts. You will all see the results of my work very soon.
Before I describe what I am capable of, I must inform you all that upon my mastery of this field, a so called patron deity of civilization sought to contact me. I do not know much about it yet, and will have to maintain contact with it before I decide whether or not it is worth speaking to or working with. Asmodai is what it calls itself, I have been unable to find many records of it. If you would like to learn more of my experiences with it, I am fine discussing.
One thing it has managed to convince me of is the publication of our dissertation in regards to Law Magic, including the rules contracts must follow. It claims my assertions are accurate, and so it wishes them publicized so that everyone that signs a contract may know how the terms apply to them. As much of a disadvantage this would leave me at, I do believe it is fair. As such, the following dissertation can be found in any library that will accept it. https://chronicles-of-esshar.com/forum/s...8#pid57148

Contract Binding
I have come up with a rough estimate of what contracts you can expect a Contract Binder to be able to reliably produce based on their skill. Separating contracts into tiers, depending on what they are capable of. As I believe I am the only Essharan Contract Binder, I can reliably create all the following contracts for you, placing myself at the level of Master.

Separating contracts into tiers, depending on what they are capable of. As I believe I am the only Essharan Contract Binder, I can reliably create all the following contracts for you, placing myself at the level of Master.
Contract Binding
Beginner: Tier 1 Contracts of Self Accepted Harm, and beginning knowledge of aiding in creation of better contracts.
Tier 1 Contracts of Self Accepted Harm are capable of preventing parties from lying, and can apply temporary injuries upon clause completion or failure.
Tier 1 Contracts of Self Accepted Harm are capable of preventing parties from lying, and can apply temporary injuries upon clause completion or failure.
Intermediate: Tier 2 Contracts of Self Accepted Harm, Tier 1 Officiation Contracts, Tier 1 Equivalent Exchange Contracts.
Tier 2 Contracts of Self Accepted Harm can apply permanent injuries, as well as short compulsions such as "Upon failure of this clause, the signee must inform Taipan Lewra of their failure as soon as they are able."
Tier 1 Officiation Contracts can create magical contracts that act as reusable energy repositories for any unique and powerful magic item you wish to create relying on your title or status, at this tier, marriage contracts can be made as long as there is a ceremony and payment is provided to the law mage, and basic titles such as "Accomplished Chef" can be awarded with proof of validity and payment.
Tier 1 Equivalent Exchange Contracts are capable of moving temporary injuries from one person to another. Removing them completely from one, but placing them on a willing party.
Master: Tier 3 Contracts of Self Accepted Harm, Tier 2 Officiation Contracts, Tier 2 Equivalent Exchange Contracts.
Tier 3 Contracts of Self Accepted Harm are capable of ending a signee's life upon completion or failure of a clause. They can also implant lingering compulsions. An example of this is "Upon signing, the signee accepts the lingering compulsion to defend Taipan Lewra from any danger they believe them to be in".
Tier 2 Officiation Contracts created by a master can universally recognize nobility and royalty, these contracts are immensely powerful and can be used in creating numerous magical items throughout the lifetime of entire bloodlines. As such, they require large payments and proof of validity, which can come in the form of relics, feats, or great deeds and adventure for their creation. Additionally, "Renowned Titles" can be officiated, these are ones that signify a rank that none other can claim while you live, such as "Stellus", "Esshar's Wealthiest", or "Finest New Tannen Assassin". If you lose your claim on the title, then the contract loses power... however the items you create with it do not.
Tier 2 Equivalent Exchange Contracts at the master level, contracts can be made that transfer one permanent injury to another. Yes, this means you can permanently remove lifelong crippling injuries so long as someone is willing to accept them. This was difficult to master, however I am now certain I can reliably create these contracts without issue.
You can be creative with clauses, though it is best to ask for my advice in wording them to avoid loopholes. Once again, Taipan Lewra reserves the right to refuse to create a contract for any reason, and is under no obligation to disclose his reasoning. If you would like to inquire about the creation of a contract, feel free to reach out. These contracts do not need to involve Taipan Lewra as a party, and so he may create contracts that secure your own agreements and transactions.
