The Beast of Messaris

The Messaris district of the Shimmering City has always been known for its beauty and bright colors. In contrast to the impoverished slums of Sudbury, Messaris bustles with jovial life- from ambitious vendors of exotic goods, to homely taverns and even a strong presence of nobility amidst its ever-flourishing, diverse infrastructure. Frequently does it serve as the gathering ground for grand festivals and entertaining events, with many families from the city's smaller outskirts coming to visit its attractions multiple times throughout the year. Messaris has proven itself to be a valuable expenditure of Osronan funding.
Recently, however, Messaris has been center of dark rumors and widespread dismay.
During the cold Essharan nights, unexplained murders have been cause for alarm in the once peaceful district- with a handful of bodies now discovered every morning during quotidian Second Dawn patrol. Dark alleys and shady corners find themselves tainted with the crimson essence of dead residents- the killer leaving little trace of their presence. The belongings and garments of a victim are always intact, some speculating that it's a cursed demon spawned from the darkness that has recently taken ahold of Esshar.
The trauma inflicted upon the dead, however, is indicative of something terrifying- the fangs of a cursed being.
Bodies have been found in Messaris mostly, but the southern Osronan quarry workers have reported sightings of the mysterious humanoid during their routine treks back to the Shimmering City. Witnesses suggest it has established a hunting ground between Osrona and its intricate sewer system.

It begs the question; how does it know its way around Osrona so well? Has it infiltrated its society? Is it a shapeshifter? What does it want?
