Stories are told among seafaring folk of the return of Pirates, rumors fill the tables of local taverns and gathering spaces, all of which speak of an old ship once thought abandoned now wandering the coast of Esshar.
Travelers speak of the Paupers Bride, beached in the desert for over twenty years. Mentions of seeing its sails come to life and the very vessel departing from what was considered it's resting place.
Mention of the Deep Companies return, of the rise of a young Captain who claimed his birthright.
A Legacy once thought reduced to Ashes by the vampires of Asphodel soon makes it's arrival near the Docros mansion, led by its new captain, the man wielding the sword promised to him so long ago. His Birthright, the Dread Saltspite.

Whispers carry through the wind, that the Dread Captain Tigerseye Reave is looking for a crew, for strong warriors who seek a life on the Sea.
The Deep Company is born again, Led by a Reave as it was long ago, unwilling to let the name die off with it's predecessors.
Unrelenting.
Unforgiving.
Undying.

The Deep One's Herald calls out to those who seek the freedom of the High Seas.

Feel free and DM me at MrBongtastic#5281 if you're interested in joining the Deep Company and being a part of a badass crew of pirates or find Tigerseye Reave ICly!

The Paupers Landing

After months of preparations, the mysterious and ancient ship leaves its' place off of the coasts of the Deserts near Aesirheim, what was once thought to be a dead relic of the past comes to life with mentions of strange beings of black fog manning the sails at the behest of the hulking Captain Tigerseye Reave.

Making the voyage faster than any normal vessel, the Paupers Bride has landed and set anchor in the Bay south of the Docro Manor as the crew, accompanied by these strange beings of fog begin to unload supplies and set up camp along the beaches. Those few living who can be seen disembarking from the ancient vessel are diverse, Sirenians, Drakanite, Humans and beastkin alike all seem to have a place in the Dread pirates crew.

Those Faithful to the Deep One and its' herald flock to the ship, seeking knowledge of the freedom that was the high seas.
Rumors boast of a welcoming Captain, one who is as ruthless and calculating if not more than those who held the mantle before him.
Bards along the coast can oft be heard singing this song:

All ye lost and seeking freedom
All ye willing might hear the song
The Paupers Bride and her Captains calling
Of what whispers ye dreamin of?

The Deep One listens when ye call
In winds of change the sun may set
If ye seek Freedom all fer naught
The many seas they sing fer thee

Do ye not seek all the answers?
Who are ye to question thee?
Lost without yer sense of freedom
The Sirens Song will set ye free

Something brews in the ruins of Achyon.
A Thick black fog brews around the ruined city, its' source? The dread Paupers Bride arriving at its docks.
The Fog clings to all, like a dreadful curtain hiding something very special behind it.
-
Any who walk through it are accosted by whispers, voices of the Deep One and those damned by it, all calling and coaxing with the same promises of freedom, power, riches, all for a singular price: Sanity.
-
Those who travel deep into the now accursed ruins of Achyon are stricken with horrifying nightmares, the gaze of something that should not be. When asked what they had seen? They can only recall few scant details.
-
Fogfolk, Souls cursed by the Deep and forever bound to the ship begin to move through the ruins, unloading boxes and building ramshackle huts or repurposing abandoned buildings for purposes unknown.
-
Listless undead, dregs of the Lich Kings forces begin to shuffle once again as commands reach their minds, aiding the cursed in their efforts.
-
Laying claim to the Ruins of old is the Dread Captain Reave, commanding the Folk while the undead aid the cursed, a place claimed by the reborn Deep Company. Somewhere for Outlaws and Outcasts alike to rise, free of the Scrutiny of the self righteous. Once again, sailors crazed by their encounters sing as bards once had before them:
-
Deep within the Fogs of madness, where the dead once roamed anew.
Something vile and wonderful brews, a place for the outcast few.
Those who've heard the Sirens call, now see from where it hails.
The herald of the Mori sings, while those damned by him all wail.
-
You now walk the Moris shores, one who heard the song.
The Whispers share a wicked tale, dreams of dead things unfulfilled.
All things touched by the fog, feel the Deep Ones gaze.
And in their nightmares hear his voice, singing promises of truth.

Pauper: The City of Ruin
In the ruins once known as Achyon, a new city rises from blackened fog. Inhuman hands toil to renew and reclaim in unity with the fertile bogs and the Undead who once wandered listlessly. More and more gather within the mists, slowly repopulating what once was a dead city. Where the flags of the Deep Company are flown, so does word of religious freedom, of honor among thieves and the value of money and services rendered. Mad Sailors roam wherever the ocean touches, raving of nightmares and dreams of glory to be found, singing drunken songs boasting of the Dread Captain Reave and his welcome to all those outcast, abandoned or outside the realms of Law.
---
Commerce has returned to the dead city, whispers of its new name and the power of the Dread Captain, his ship and the horrors of the Black Fog.
Word spreads that the Captain does not discriminate, welcoming any who seek refuge within his territories and asking only for aid in making Pauper a prosperous place. Requests for Fishermen, Chefs, Alchemists and crafters, Warriors and brigands alike with promises of freedom, business and best of all a place away from the laws of the high and mighty.
---
The Sirens call spreads far and wide as do the whispers and Nightmares of the sea.
---
They say the Captain is not an unreasonable man, nor is he a merciful one lest there is something worthwhile to gain.

The Sounds of Battle within the Fog.
Rumors around Esshar speak of a battle in Pauper, the City of Ruin.
Mutants of the Deep, an ancient crew led by a collector known as the Servant, one of the Deep Ones chosen attack the Dread Captain and his Crew.
-
The Battle is a gruesome one, the Captain, aided by his First Mate Amadeus manage to subdue the creatures, protecting a few of the younger denizens of Pauper alongside the help of a swordsman known as Dearil. Captain Reave however, seems to have achieved a new and fearsome level of power, bestowed upon him as a gift for breaking the curse of Cain, Rumors of the fabled Cursebreaker spread even further.
-
Once the final blow is struck, the Servant was said to have given gifts to those who prevailed, satisfied with the state of the Deep Companies new crew as they make their mark to protect their city.

The Fog around the city seems to thicken, as do the presence of whispers. The Fogfolk seem to be more fluid, able to do more within the city and when approached, individual whispers can be heard from the ethereal beings.

The Ocean around what was once Achyon stirs with creatures and horrors unknown and the Dread Pirate Reave has said to be seen in the Nightmares of those stricken with madness or those devoted to the creatures of the sea themselves. To all who seek it, there are riches and power in the ruined city. All come for the right price.

Let us see if you've something worth more than your sanity.
