A group of Magi lead by Melody lux Vel Kruger, consisting of Aurora, Phalanx, Auxis, Ael, and Caliban. They are seen bringing in an ascended Grodon into Osrona, before it is swiftly brought into the castle into a specially prepared room. Kept under sedation as it is studied, those who ask the Radiant will receive an answer.

"We are attempting to Domesticate Grodon's for use in Osrona, defending our walls, helping haul goods, plowing fields, and numerous other effects can be done if we have these creatures in our employ. This is just the first of many steps for this plan."

In other news, The Radiant is requesting Earth Crystals if people are willing to donate or sell them to Melody at cost, she needs dozens of them.

Domestication thoughts and Facts about Grodon’s, Initial report

Combat ability: Primarily earthen based magic, though it has a potent venom that is mineral based and can be deadly to magi and non magi alike. Throwing off parts of its body to launch a geode of earthen magic that quickly regrows as soon as the attack shatters. Leaving not only heavy crushing damage, but small shards of crystal and gems embedded inside of a foe. It is able to use its legs to rapidly launch a wave of earth upon a foe, assisted with its innate earthen magic.

Some of the geodes and rocks that cover its body it is able to throw off in a circle around it, these geodes and rocks are covered in the mineral poison. Overall these creatures are fairly physically strong, and resilient due to their bodies primarily being made up of rock and geodes.


While undomesticated Grodon’s are aggressive, it appears as if they only primarily attack those who have an active mana circuit. This is why the quarry is able to operate by Non-Magi. It may be because they believe that those with magic are a threat to them and must be beaten off from their area to preserve their lives. Outside of the range of the Grodon’s territory, they swiftly retreat back to their area without much fuss.


Diet: Apparently it mainly consists on gems, crystals, minerals, and rocks. Somehow using this for energy and to expand its bulk. They typically only eat once a week but generally a fair amount for their body size. This is in part that they are mostly stationary and do not require a lot of energy. Though their innate magic seems to aid them as well in supplying energy.


Domestication status: Currently using Gem magic, we are able to use earth crystals to calm the Grodon’s and allow Magi to work with them. An artificed device that allows non earth magi to use earth crystals to this effect has been manufactured by Ael Gelmont and it is showing good effect on these creatures. Currently they are being housed safely in a compound outside of the city dug partially underground to simulate the environment of their habitat.


Uses of Grodon’s: Mineral harvesting, they can help dig through tunnels and find loadstones of gems, though we must be careful in guiding them as they may eat part of the mineral veins. Tilling fields is something they do fairly well but may become too enthusiastic and till more than we wish. Defensive wise we need to focus them on a target, possibly by some way of attaching a signal to attack, but this is unknown at this time.


Due to the strength of the Grodon’s and their resilience, they can hold and drag heavy loads easier than oxen, training them to pull wagons could be of great use to our trade routes.


Upon death we can break open the Grodon’s and harvest several minerals such as earth crystals and gem stones. Some of the rocks could also be useful in construction.

The following paperwork was left by phalanx in melody workplace containing a series of information, along with suggestions for experiments.


The following diagnosis was given by a non-magi doctor.

The poison effects: After the mission of recognition and collect of grodon, phalanx was returned visibly bald. Following his explanation that was something becoming "normal", yet i provided tests to found secundady effects, and found the first effect of the mineral based venom, When in contact with flesh, it sticks on it, getting deeper in the body, until reaches the mana circuits, is yet unknow how it can pierce without doing immediate pain reactions, but is belived have similarities in how poison magi use their magic. For some reason it delays all body functions, for example a lot of time passed and a single grass of hair could be noticed on phalanx. 


I assumed the creature's claws secrete the same venom, since all slashes on phalanx body was also covered in the same substance, when used like that, is more efficient since it applies in a way it cant be simply threated, applying directly to the body unlike before that sticks on flesh and take some time to get deeper on it, after a quick test it dont seem like go through armor.

And for last, the dangerous effect on that poison on people, the sense of perception becomes ultra sensitive , it also have similar effects noticed on ingestion of alchool, delayed attenction, and weakness on skin touch, even a coin falling on ground or a bird fly sounds can make a individual ears bleed or stun the victim for a couple of seconds, it has not yet been confirmed but this is supposed to be related to the effect caused by the weakening of the circuits, the best way to treat it , is if possible using a magi doctor to cleanse with mana some of the poison and them treat the sequelae caused by the ultra sensibility effect or the cuts caused by the monster.

After finishing my report, i saw phalanx taking a elixir of healing, he said he was only waited so much to gather information about it. the fluids started to grow and evaporate on his body leaving a small light blue fog. with the cuts getting healed.

Addendum one: After reading you files about what was discovered about the grodons, i came with the suggestion to do tests using crystal magi, and their crystals be the grodon source of food, if we are able to make them preferably eath them will help alot when it comes to the hole digging task, since they may ignore some of the minerals on it.

Addendum two: When we saw that huge ammount of monsters in the quarry, and the stomp in the small ones, in retrospective we can be sure they dont work like a Cologne but instead pack monsters, with the bigger one being the alpha of the place, for future tests involving the same monsters "Gordon" I add the information that all habitat of them will have at lest one or two alphas in along with their packs, divided by area. is also something that can be or not discared after more information gathered.

Addendum three: For the last suggestion i have, is a plan, of how work if they get out of control and start attack people, even knowing they're tamed, i still worry that thought can take a life someday, the more possible scenario i see this happening is if the city is attacked and in the heat of the battle the monsters also get wild, probaly something to put them temporaly fainted to avoid loses.

Grodon Control and Applications - Report

Observation's made over the last several months have allowed me to view the habits and patterns of Grodon's under domesticated control. As with Melody and Phalanx' reports, their combat capabilities are certainly extensive, a variety of means that the Grodon' is in possession of to defend itself. I believe a method could be made to use them for siege defence and perhaps even aggressive application.

Their ability to aid in tending to the mines and fields also further emphasizes the Order's need for greater control of these creatures and further testing to discover what other uses these powerful creatures may have.

Domestication Device: The device is designed as a harness that clasps around the body of the Grodon, several points along it's design allow for control and reaction with the use of Earth Crystals, allowing non-magi to even handle and direct the Grodon's upon their command, though each device currently needs a handler, I intend to further upgrade and improve the device and controls for greater control and perhaps as a means of saving labour and handlers.

The aim is to keep the device as simple as possible, a tricky assignment yet enthusiasm on the project remains high.

Fire Crystal Experimentation: Earth Crystals are typically used to control and direct the Grodon's when working, I agree with the prior reports- the addition of Earth and Crystal magi will most certainly amplify our research and progression. Though a theory on what applications could be used through Fire Crystals and magic had left Ael Gelmont in great wonder.

Will application of Fire crystals perhaps cause their attitudes or forms to shift into something more likely to represent fire? Will raw Fire Crystals be effective? What about refined crystals? Ael believes- coupled with his device that Fire crystals could allow the Grodon's to use additional 'firepower' for combative applications.

Conclusion: Further research and experimentation necessary.

- A request of fire-crystals from those who wish to see this research progress faster, should bring their supplies to Ael Gelmont.

- Earth and Crystal Magi are heavily sought and requested to aid in further research.

On The Subject of Asserting Dominance and becoming an Alpha

Oosu~! Melody my girl! Many nights have been spent observing these INCREDIBLE BEASTS! As per Phalanx' previous report, There is INDEED a hierarchy within Grodon packs! it would seem that the creatures have a ritual for asserting DOMINANCE!! and from what I've gathered, it seems they engage in great shows of PHYSICAL PROWESS! Just recently I witnessed a WONDROUS INTERACTION between two MASSIVE Grodon vying for the position of the ALPHA!

Using their HARDENED CARAPACE! The two collided in a MIGHTY CRASH of power!  Heads butting with VIGOR as their respective thoraces rose upwards! The following struggle proving to be a case of WHICHEVER could pin the other first, As their respective hind and fore-legs pushed violently in an attempt to throw each other down!

Following this GLORIOUS altercation, a winner was more than evident! The Younger Grodon BESTING the reigning alpha! The latter becoming quite submissive after such a DEVESTATING loss! Much to my surprise however, it seemed that the WHOLE PACK became eager to follow their newly christened leader. The smaller ones in particular following suit with the victor not long after the event! IT WAS FANTASTIC!

From this... I can't help but wonder... Could one attempt to gain these Beasts' Loyalty by challenging them in such a manner?

Initial report part 2

After reading my colleagues' reports and with my own continued observations, it is evident that this line of research is bearing great fruit for our cause. While these creatures are dangerous, they however are a wonderful species in their own right. Stubborn as the earth, and willful. But with the right prodding as our devices have evidenced, we believe that they can become fully tamed.


The device can be altered to make the wielder the “Alpha” of the pack or individual creature. This makes them docile and easy to lead on doing what we require of them. Earth crystals being in abundance, and easy to harvest if you know where to look for their naturally forming clusters has been even more of a boon. Though combining the other gem types with these creatures is an avenue of study that we have yet to start to explore fully.


Our first goal is to treat these creatures safely and with dignity, which we have succeeded at. The device is non invasive and ensures that we can safely operate it, though for non magi to use it is still a step we need to improve on, but strides are coming along greatly.


I can call this domestication effort a success to a degree. We still have to breed them in captivity and find a way to mass produce the device easily. But we have proven that our theories are mostly correct at the moment.


Though there have been reports of spider activities in the nest we formed for the Grodons, nothing no one can’t handle, but maybe we should personally investigate this.

After numerous years of hard work, this project can finally be closed with a success. Numerous generations of careful breeding and intense study has resulted in domesticated Grodons. Osrona can finally find use for these creatures and aid the lifes of all, magi and non magi included!

A helpful information pamphlet of all the uses of Grodons are soon distributed throughout Osrona and its smaller villages, towns, and cities under its control.

• Pull your carts or wagon! The Grodon is a strong beast and able to take on great loads. And the added benefit, is its food is located everywhere, as it primarily eats rocks.
  
• Till fields! Using its innate magical powers, it can quickly till a field for crops
  
• Guard Animal! With careful training, they can be taught to help guard your home from intruders! They will attempt to pin the intruder under them and threaten them with poisonous fangs a good way to threaten that non magi bandit or thief in your home.
  
• Produce venom! Alchimists can milk the creatures for their powerful mineral based venom.
  
• Harvest Earth Crystals! At the end of their life or through slaughter houses, breaking open a Grodon can produce numerous earthern crystals.
  
• A kind and loyal pet! These Creatures, even though they are large and made of rocks, enjoy being petted and cared for. Petting them can actually make them make a purring sound as they scrape their rocks together in pleasure.
