ChanceGuidelines - Art
#1
These are general guidelines to follow, as well as Eternia specific stipulations!

1. If commissioning art, such as a digital piece or sprite, we advise the artist to request payment in advance after providing a sample (such as a single frame or quick sketch), with a general idea for completion and updates along the way. We're very supportive of artists in the community and will take action if you waste their time, so make sure they're fairly compensated and agreements are met. Fortunately, this is rarely ever an issue, but if it is one and we can help at all please make a ticket or file a report on the forums.

2. Do not sell the same sprite to multiple people, or work that isn't your own. This extends to recolors being passed off as original art.

3. Keep in mind that sprites uploaded to the game, using the base/palette, are then considered part of the network of resources. This varies from piece to piece, as we value the exclusivity of the person that sprited the item or commissioned it (especially if it's an original work) and will typically request permission to make sure they're okay with it being used.

An example of when we use a sprite might be: Someone hosts an event, requests a sprite for an item, we look into the database of sprites and find something that's not been seen in a year or longer, and provide access to the DM under the assumption it's not in active use and will unlikely to be. Or we add it to the store for global/public use. As it's being used in the game based on the existing resources, it is considered a part of that informally. (If someone, say, paid money for a sprite and we're aware of that, we'll always try to contact them in advance though)
