Quote:Considered a subset of wordcasting, Spellsong or sometimes called the Bardic arts, is a type of casting involving singing or playing an instrument to cause mana to flow specific ways in their bodies to cast their spells. Combat is a performance for a skilled spellsinger, Their voices or instrument aided by their mana rising above the clamor of a battle, a bewitching performance that can enthrall the less willed of the world with their mana aided words.

While generally this type of wordcasting is associated with sound magic, this is more of a stereotype than anything else, any magic type can be used with Spellsinging, often taking up small traits of the magic that is being cast or the primary magic a spellsinger is using in their song. Fire magic being fiery and passion filled, shadow magic taking on a mysterious tone.

If there is one downside with this type of casting, is that it is highly predictable if the target is studied at all, casting being done in a specific order by the Spellsinger as they work their magic, although they may be able to throw off a fighter by suddenly changing the next line of their song to something else so they cast a different spell. Many are not skilled enough for such a thing, mana memory taking over and they sing the next line unconsciously.

This is something that has already probably been done by numerous people, but was thinking of this last night when i got off and played a bit of Dominions, specifically Man who have spellsingers/spellsong to cast their magic more effectively. Then was thinking of the one anime Drea showed the admins many years ago, where the magical girls are singing in battle in order to cast their magics and fight.

I did want to make mention that Spellsinging can be done with not just words, but the memory you imparted on yourself with your flute, you hands moving in certain movements that remind you that this is where your mana needs to go to unleash this wind blast
