The Auric
Quote:
A relatively new group in the Essharan region, The Auric is a part Mercenary group, part Adventurers League made up predominantly of Rhoynish. Operating from Theria, a city where none of their practices are illegal, The Auric serves as a place for any Rhoyn who seeks a place to belong, to learn about or practice their culture, free from persecution. Additionally, whilst not outwardly stating their stance on Osrona, the group has begun actively advocating for the emancipation of the indentured Rhoynish throughout Esshar, something unlikely to surprise anyone given many of their members are rumoured to be escaped slaves from Hessalia.

The Current Speaker of The Auric is Lira of Clan Eryni.

Ranks Within The Auric
Quote:
Speaker: The current head of The Auric and thus representative of the Rhoynish community in Theria.
Liberator/Lorekeeper: The rank that represents actual active membership in The Auric. A Liberator is a combatant within the guild. A Lorekeeper is a non-combatant who active supports the guild, whether through gathering, crafting or medic duties. The two ranks are considered equal in the heirachy of the guild.
Kinsman/Fellow: A member of the Rhoynish community supported by The Auric. A Kinsman is an actual Rhoyn, by ancestry. A Fellow is a member of the community who either supports the Rhoynish cause to a degree considered to merit membership, or a non-Rhoynish seeking to learn the culture and then be adopted into a clan. Both are considered equal, though a Kinsman has a greater role in the community as a full Rhoyn.
Responsibilities of Members

Quote:
  • Members of The Auric are expected to support the Rhoynish cause, and advocate for their emancipation and the loosening of cultural restrictions where possible. Residence in Theria is encouraged but not required.
  • A member of The Auric may challenge a Speaker they believe unfit to lead. A challenge to depose a Speaker does not have to be combat, but it may not end with death. If a Speaker is deposed in this manner, the next speaker is elected from the current Liberators and Lorekeepers. The previous Speaker may be nominated in this process. If they are, the Speaker may not be challenged for one year.
  • The Auric may occasionally take on contracts to fight alongside another faction. In this case, Liberators are expected to participate in such activities when reasonable; for example, someone currently wounded or of advanced age would not be expected to fight, whereas someone unharmed in the prime of their life would be.
  • Kinsman and Fellows are not active members of the guild, but rather a member of the Rhoynish community it represents. However, any Kinsman or Fellow may willingly choose to serve as a Liberator for a voluntary period of time; the Liberator rank mainly denotes someone who is permanently in such a position.

Recruitment

Quote:The Auric encourages anyone Rhoynish or seeking to join the Rhoynish community to join, as well as any who support the emancipation of the Rhoynish people. Anyone seeking to join The Auric may seek out a member in Theria or elsewhere. The Speaker, Liberators and Lorekeepers may actively bring a recruit into the fold.
