Among some trash and moldy books on a small, oak shelf within a humble home in Sudbury is a journal that's missing a corner. The damage appears to have been made by a dog or some animal that chewed it off, as can be discerned by the teeth marks up to the side. The pages within are of little importance, given the book itself, the building it rests in, and the one who lives within it are just as inconspicuous and mundane. And yet, as the boy learns to read and write, this blank tome is the only thing he can call all his own.

Torn from the journal, a page is missing, its remaining edge ragged and ripped. No one would care to track it down, not even in the thousand histories that will follow the day it left its home, save for its recipient and author, if either even cared.

The page was stabbed into the door of the Commander's office within the Headquarters of the City Watch, but was almost assuredly thrown away shortly after.
