As Audhild has slowly recovered over the years with new housings and new faces, taking a more active scene across the lands of meranthe, the lab at the edge of the city kept working throughout the days and nights.
With the mantle of 'Head Researcher' thrusted upon him, Benjamin Thomson has made his own announcement with a notice, placed upon the city square's notice board:
With the mantle of 'Head Researcher' thrusted upon him, Benjamin Thomson has made his own announcement with a notice, placed upon the city square's notice board:
"With me being given the job of Head Researcher, I'll like to announce the following matters:
- I am giving the name 'Thomson Industries' to my lab, so that it shall no longer be but the strange workplace on the outskirts of the city.
- To assist Audhild's defensive force, I am offering aid to the guard in the form of weapons, armors, and gadgets free of charge. In a continent where demons, undead, and their sympathizers get to run amok, we must not let ourselves be caught unprepared.
- An Audhild centered research team shall be formed, to gather all the intellectual minds into the same group, name still pending. I'll be allowing those of Audhild who show interest in joining into the group, with those outside the city only allowed to join as well on a case-by-case basis. My goal is for the research team to focus inwards for the benefit of the city, and a collective mind ought to perform better than ones scattered out into their own corners.
- Lastly, I'll be unveiling the information of my most recent innovations, which will be written in a folder placed inside, Edhellen, the Library of Knowledge.
It is an act I plan to repeat for any future creation ideally, as I staunchly believe that for science to advance? Information has to be shared, and be public for all.
Signed,
Benjamin Thomson, Head Researcher."
True to his word? The folder could be found within the library soon after, containing the information over two creations of note:
Quote:Shadow Rubber:
"A rubber made from the sap of Briarwood, empowered by the mystical forces that dwelled within the bark. Great for insulation not just against the elements, but also against toxicity and occultic energies, a trait inherited from the briarwood itself.
The steps for its creation were as follows:
Credits goes to Benjamin Thomson
- Use a hooked blade to diagonally cut into the briarwood log. Keep cutting until the sap comes out.
- Hammer in a bladed spout at the bottom part of the cut, to funnel the leaking sap into a bucket.
- When you have enough sap? Pour it into a plastic bowl, add formic acid (taken out of a crellus' body), and swish around the contents so that the acid will make the sap coagulate.
- After around 15 minutes have passed for the acid to do its work, pour out the now solidified mixture and flatten it properly with a rolling pin.
- Rinse the flattened sheet with a base made out of alessa extract to counteract the acid. The rinsing needs to be quick, to not risk ending up with the reverse issue of the sheet now being drenched with a base instead.
- Let the sheet rest and bask in the sun, to dry out any remaining water or other liquids.
Quote:Miniature Black Hole:
"A glossy black sphere of super-condensed nyshek, with artifical magic circuits made out of adamantite. The ball itself acts like an anomalyin the laws of physics while in a relaxed state:
The sphere conjures a gravity forced to resist the earth's pull and thus float in space.
Yet, it has its own gravity field, able to draw dust and rubble into orbit, forming a circular ring.
Credits goes to Benjamin Thomson and Ariels Kasca
- Prepare a round metallic sphere made out of an adamantite core with nyshek as its outer layer.
- Set up a system that'll make the sphere float for the next phase. In our experiment? We used a levitiation system based around magnetic forces produced from wire coils when electricity flows through it, followe by magnetizing the sphere itself.
WARNING!
The next step is dangerous, and requires appropriate safety measurements to be taken or else you might end up sucked in and crushed by the amplified gravity force that'll come from the sphere.
Do the next step in an area where damage to infrastructure and the surrounding landscape will be minimized, and prepare safety cables to keep you anchored to the ground no matter what.
- With the aid of a gravity magic wearing protective gloves against heat, use a welder to heat up the sphere until the nyshek layer gets close to its melting point. Once the gravity mage drinks a rebirth potion to make their mana circuits more fluid and moldable? Have them touch the ball with the protective gloves, and extend their magic circuits into the ball, concentrating all the gravity magic they can muster into the sphere.
WARNING!
This method can cause a permament chance to the gravity mage, making them lose their affinity to gravity based magic in the process. If such risk is considered undesirable? Consider an alternative method to the third step.
OOC Notes: I would've added the folder in game into the library, but with the game deleting books from bookcases every reboot? I've decided to post the inventions within the htread in the meantime.
If anyone wants to contact Benjamin Thomson for a scene, or has suggestions for the research team's name? My discord name is detective100
Edits done. Turns out that trying to put words in the center in a numbered list can get the forum post all screwed up
