Light is definitely over-tuned.
It needing to be toned down is an understatement.
I don't think the entire tree being intermediates is a good justification for anything either. It's by far the most accessible and most over-used of intermediates and a lot of people just have it to have it. Other intermediates aren't as prevalent and honestly, light spells feel like they're stronger than hiddens. But they also seem easier and way more numerous than hiddens.
Something should definitely be done and they don't feel like some epic ace in the hole type spell, they just feel like some over-tuned basic spell on your hotbar.
And as someone who's faced Light (and holy, and I guess cosmic but moreso the other two), I can say that it does feel kinda disgusting to face. When a match is over I don't know what to say about the fights. I kinda just feel like I'm drained of the energy to write, because it wasn't interesting. And I'm someone who loves to RP the aftermath of a battle. Every action in verb is cool, and describing it after the fight can be fun. But Holy? And Light? with the exception of maybe Holy Cannon and Light Beam, it does not feel interesting to RP with nor interesting to fight.
If I get hit with a tidal wave it's like, woah! A finishing move. If I get hit with holy ground or scattered lights its like... I guess I just stood there and curled up like some feeble vampire. Not fun not cool and probably needs a gameplay update. Make it less significant or make it require more effort. It's just autopilot and boring.
