I don't make it a habit of posting in my own thread, but I feel as though I should respond to Psilo and his criticism, alongside Jess. The issues with balance I completely accept, I could have made for more balanced fights against the ECs. The goal was to convey extremely dangerous beings. A corrupted wraith spirit and an entire tribe of feral beastkin worshipping it as a god. There were many things I could've done to make the fights more balanced, and I accept that and will attempt to move on with that knowledge in mind.
I wish to apologize to those attendees who went on the event and felt it was too dangerous or an excuse simply to hurt them. I apologize to Psilo for feeling that there was a metagrudge against him, though I'm unsure why he'd think that. Taking OOC screenshots of comments made jokingly can lead to any number of misinterpretations, and I feel like that is what's happened here. I think nearly any player I've interacted with, or admin, would agree that I try to keep up a general friendly and joking demeanor about things. To be as transparent as possible...
There were three perms and four temporary injuries inflicted. Two perms went onto one player who was exceptionally unlucky with his rolls, while the third went onto another player. Of the four temps applied, three were instantaneously healed by Healing Elixirs, and one was applied right at the end of the event, to the player unlucky with permanent injury. In exchange three unique pieces of equipment were given out, each more powerful than anything that could've conventionally been acquired (alongside the IC of having bound a wraith to a person).
I do not run events as an excuse to hurt or kill people. I do not run them as a method of venting out some metagrudge, that would be unbecoming of me as a DM, an admin and a person. I run them so that I can help expand the lore of a game that I love and give an enjoyable experience to those players that attend my events. I've failed in the second half of that, and for that I apologize.
If this makes you uneasy about attending my events in the future, then I apologize. All I can do is offer the promise that I do try to be as fair as I can be, though if that rings hollow, then I understand.
That is all.
