Of Autumn Poetry
A collection of poetry, showcased upon a gathering hosted by Su[Redacted] in the year 2093 AC within Dal'thala.

"It's been going well
So many friends and family
I fund them with love
They pay back with their own
I appreciate it a lot
It's lonely at times though
Late nights with my dogs
But I'm happy
It's been fun
I've been healthy
Watching plays in my free time
Admiring the actors and actresses
Wearing different masks and personas
A super fun time
I watch them alone though
Idling with runes and cannons
Tinkering and tinkering
Making the world a better place
So many inventions
It's honest work
I'm content so far though
Wonder how it'll keep going
Gala is the coolest for sure
And I'll keep serving her forever
To see where she takes me"

Under the shadow of incongruous gods
wrestle a pair of siblings at odds.
“Get lost,” each said to the other,
and they forgot they were brothers.
Now their children only look from afar,
some from Aphros, some from Citadel,
freedom’s fruit tastes bittersweet;
Meranthe’s jewels are never to meet.
At Dal'thala, I looked east:
into our past
who’d have thought
a thousand years wouldn’t last?
Relics of days long gone--
you can find them in my bones.
I am the crumbling minstrel,
the decrepit city walls,
a castle adorned by modern
fittings, forged in doubt.
then set ablaze;
a pyre for our past.
Life on
the lam
has lost
its lustre;
the Likely Lass,
in all likelihood,
laments her
lack of a
luxurious life,
lusting in
Londo;
lamenting
her Love.

"The first time I tried to kill my daughter
I swaddled my arms so tight around the beat
of her chest..."
"Thinking I could pray her
into a cathedral of birds.
Every symptom of her body would break
into the sound of a million...
murmuring wings..."
"You see I never actually wanted to kill her.
I just wanted to Destroy her into something too beautiful to hate."

Dull
"Dull, not as in boring or bland, but as like a blade used one time too many.
I see dulled expressions, feelings, emotions, on those who I meet in life.
I wish for them to feel the full breadth of live once more.
Sorrow cannot be properly felt after being exposed to it so much.
They take that from us.
I want to cry.
I want to scream.
Yet I see those that have done so, years, decades, ago no longer do so.
They've had it stolen from them.
Can I cry for you?
Will you cry for me?
There are those I miss, tears well up at the mention of their name."

I never wish to part from the sadness of the absence of you.
Because it shows me I still love.
I still care.
Like a blade fresh from the forage, I am not dull.
May age not take that from me."

"Shadows kiss the light
Duality's dance unfolds,
Opposites entwine."

"It can burn out
It can burn brightly
It can consume us
For each person it is different
But for me it was ever diminishing,
Where young it burned brightly and focused
With time it has only grown dimmer,
Sometimes the original purpose lost
Sometimes the purposes warped
Sometimes I look back at such a flame
I wonder if it would burn bright for me once more
To burn brighter than it ever has, but I must find it
Find that which once ignited me such time ago
Whether it be that of love, or that of resolve
I don’t know, but somedays I wonder
If that fire was something of my creation
Or that of another
Maybe one day I will find what was lost
The flame that burned so bright"

"I've taken into consideration why I do the things I do.
Duty and obligation.
What are my duties?
Again to this question of place in the world.
Twenty years and what is my place?
Twenty years and I feel no different.
I am trying to write the story that'll be the pinnacle of my career-
or perhaps I already have and
already amI sinking into
the obscurity I feared so much...
It feels so good to kill the sun.
Living is killing the sun.
Even though killing the sun scares me.
I worry-"
"...about a lot of things.
Unveiled from the shadows
and shining a light onto something I want unseen.
My world, my thoughts, my abilities.
At some point,
everyone will come to the realization
that there is nothing special
about what I write.
I want so much to see what others tell me they see.
But I am no one's day,
no sun in the sky
or warm light."
"I want to write what it's like
even if I feel incapable
inadequate
to tell the story I want to tell.
I am thinking so hard
maybe I should stop
cease the polish
let it be as..."
"Twenty years and I still don't know who I am.
I think the sun still sets over moonlight."

"Yet of it all, I can only focus on you.
Like a moth to a flame,
pray, you won't burn me so.
Delicate, my wings,
they'll catch fire like thin paper-
Yet I draw nearer and nearer
when other lights
beckon my hover."

I have all of these duties
I subscribe to myself,
responsibilities of my own making.
I want to make them all proud,
even if my heart
wants to run away with you.
Hold it gently,
will you?

I want to be someone everyone looks to,
but most of all,
I want your gaze.
A hungry,
longing stare,
upon my person.
As if nothing else existed
or ever will.
