The Gazi Bloodline
Under the grace of Ratburg, and in pursuit of the Great Cheese

Patriarch
Ratkin is selected to lead the Clan in its collective endeavors. The congregation of Elders chooses them based on their attributes and competencies. Despite this, it is not unnatural to hear about honor duels and challenges to usurp such a role.
Elder
The oldest of all within the clan. They have lived a life amongst their kin, whether it’d be as a former Patriarch or Clawbearer. These members have accumulated wisdom in their years, and provide guidance for the leaders of tomorrow! While they are not the immediate leaders of the clan, they are responsible for offering guidance in times of trouble, or even bestowing and in rare circumstances, revoking one’s claim to the Patriarchy.
Clawbearer
Conflict is inevitable -- and those drawn to it? Are dubbed of this role. They are oft of the strongest, most versatile, and noted by their proficiency in combat. To defend the bloodline and secure its future! Given their capability, it is most often that challenges for the Patriarchy come from those dubbed of such a role, for they are amongst the few to harbor the strength and power to take it by force.
Fleshweaver
Where blood is shed, attention is provided for the wounded. These individuals are drawn to a purpose of preservation -- to mend wounds undone. While not necessarily always the case, they can be seen accompanying a Clawbearer in a duo -- tending to their wounds immediately after combat to ensure their effectiveness. The Clan can not remain healthy, if there is no one willing to tend to their wounded.
Greenthumb
Where bloodshed and medicinal efforts are vacant, agriculture takes the mainstay. It is one thing to find wild flora to use for food or even medicine, but another to control it! Those delegated to such a role, let the environment work for the Clan! Gathering and accumulating the material necessary to push Clawbearers to their maximum potential, and enable Fleshweavers to better tend their wounded. While they may not necessary be known for claiming victories in the name of the clan, nor healing the most -- they are instrumental in every victory, no matter the size or sort.
Rootkin
Those whom have started to ‘take root’ within the Clan in some way, shape or form. Perhaps, they are a candidate to spread the bloodline through -- or they are a critical aspect of the Clan, despite sharing no blood. Those born into the bloodline are immediately dubbed of such title. In time? They shall grow to assume their role amongst their fellow clanmates.
Kin
Those decided to be associated to the Clan, whether through blood or through companionship. Any member of the Clan can decide of such, just as swiftly as another can decide against it. The role is fickle in strength compared to the rest -- and moreso referred to as a rank. It is not intended for those of the bloodline -- but rather, distant relatives or simple allies.
Origins
Life was never easy for the likes of ratkin in the undergrowth of civilization. Long since abandoned sewer pathways of decrepit ruins, to the undertow of settlements abroad -- scraps and trash were fought over, tooth and claw. Bodies were stacked, where none could be bothered to look. It was in the grimdark corners of Meranthe, where human waste wrought at the stomachs of the queasy and underprepared, that the Gazi first emerged.
Their numbers never quite peaked enough to thoroughly challenge their competitors, rapidly dwindling out courtesy to much more murderous rivals in their turf wars. It came in waves, and eventually? One would wipe the collective out…
It was only in its dying moments, that the elders managed to name a new Patriarch: A young teenage magi by the name of Suleiman Gazi. In their fleeting moments, they would all be wiped out, leaving a meager handful left.

To establish a foothold across Meranthe, be fruitful and multiply!
