The Kingdom of Fortune condemns the Frontier!
#1
Exclamation

From Fortune's Royal Quarters
A period of silence befalls the Kingdom of Fortune's diplomatic channels, hushed conversations involving notable figures within the Kingdom had been had concerning recent circumstances.

On the eve of 2133AC, The Kingdom's diplomatic arm is thrust into the spotlight once more. Delegates, couriers, and officials within the Kingdom are sent forth to each nation to declare the Kingdom's stance on recent matters, as well as shed light on what had been occurring.

"The Kingdom of Fortune in its entirety is appalled and disgusted by the brazen actions of members of Midpoint, at the behest, and in tandem with important governmental officials within the Frontier, in particular Katryovno Dryden and Raven Caewynn. The latter of the pair ordered the capture and execution of Junnodem Aundeoth due to their affiliation with an Administrative Official within the Kingdom of Fortune.

During this attempted capture, citizens of Aegis, The Royal Family of the Kingdom of Fortune, and Christophore stood to the defense of Mrs Aundeoth which resulted in the brutal maiming of the princess’ Retainer Vivi who is merely a child. The Frontier’s representatives have stated they saw the maiming and brutalizing of this child a justifiable means of capturing their intended target.
It was also stated in this meeting by the Frontier’s representatives that in their view Gloomlight was guilty of the proliferation of demon kind, demon worship, cavorting with demons, and aiding and abetting fel related demonic activity. Many other accusations were levied upon important figures within the Republic.

The Kingdom condemns these actions and false accusations, which are frivolous and only exist to defame, dishonor, and disrespect the honorable men and women of the Republic whom are fighting their hardest against the Fel.
The Frontier further stated that anyone who agreed with the sentence of a life of servitude and penitence bestowed upon Aaliyah Khalas is guilty of the same crimes Aaliyah Tal, and the spirit who possessed her had committed. By implication, this suggests those who sought to have her repent rather than die are guilty of grave crimes against the lifestream and therefore must be “handled” in the same manner. Which, means killed.

When analyzing these facts, the Kingdom believes these statements, accusations, and implications are an open declaration of war and hostilities against the The Kingdom of Fortune, The Republic and anyone in favor of the judgment Aaliyah Khalas was ultimately given. We urge our allies, partners, collaborators, and those who support our cause to remain wary, and vigilant of members of the west at large. In particular, those of Midpoint and the Frontier."

A post very different in tone follows Fortune's condemnation of the Frontier. It is not delivered by any formal channel - but it follows just the same. Shortly after the official messengers depart, this message appears in newspapers, on notice boards, tacked up to posts and pillars.

Quote:"Several years ago, Orianne Aubreen of Midpoint attacked Fauste, a retired Knight of Aphros with sixty years' service against the Fel behind her, unprovoked. When she got the better of him and brought him in, we were planning to release him with nothing more than a contracted vow to not fight against us for a few years' time. Even that redress was denied us by outcry, and so we released him without a single particle of justice.

Years later, once Orianne Aubreen became strong enough to defeat an eighty-year-old woman, he took Fauste prisoner in turn. She was stripped of everything she owned, including her life's work, a tome called the Null Hypothesis, that none other can read but her. All attempts at negotiation for returning a book useless to others were denied, despite them demanding the same vow of non-combat they had so objected to on Orianne's behalf before.

And far more seriously?

Fauste was made subject to medical and mental experimentation by Serenity while in their captivity, the sovereignty of her mind violated by their psions, as Midpoint and the Frontier laughingly debated what tortures to subject her to.

The ARES unit WOLFRAM demanded that her tongue be cut out. This understandably troubled a young acolyte of Alacritas, Sacilia, so much that she decided to leave the Institute on the spot. She was so terrified for her safety that she drank invisibility potions just to retrieve her personal belongings from the Frontier before fleeing her former home, unable to reconcile its gratuitous cruelty with her beliefs.

And she was right to be afraid.

For when she met WOLFRAM again, he assaulted her for "treason and disloyalty", taking her into custody by force. Thankfully, Svengalf Sandsker was present to pay the hundred thousand coin ransom WOLFRAM demanded in return for a child whose only sin was objecting to the gratuitous maiming of captives.

Sacilia is now a proud priestess of Alacritas and a citizen of the Republic. And she is also my newest granddaughter, courtesy of the warm heart of my son Alain Ueda.

For we are, indeed, not the same as our enemies.

Where the Western Front maims children, we adopt them."
