The Vanirhallans came to Esshar with the intention of finding if one of their Gods were alive.
After finding such rumours to be true, they organized themselves with gifts to offer to their beloved Dragon of Greed.
However, the death of one of their most beloved warriors gave them a change of tune, of perception.
And thus, they went there not only to please their deity.
But to ask for boons as well.
