There are tales of flesh and spirit that lead to nothing good- the tales where trifling with the spirits led to nothing but misery and pain. The Empire never recognized spirits; aware of their existence and wary of them, but never here to praise them. A consequence of growing bloodshed across Esshar, meddling with Rifts, thinning of the Veil and restless spirits, the Empire dispatches their trusted man to deal with it.

He's not here to be friends with spirits.
He's there to eradicate or contain them.
