Revert the age display to numerical values - Method T - 04-16-2020 Like the title says, I feel like the Age shown on a character should be reverted back to showing the exact number of years the character has been alive, rather than the current 'Young Teenager', 'Teenager', 'Young Adult', 'Adult' and 'Elder' system. With the system as it is now, its far too easy to misinterpret a player's age by assuming what the description says. I.e: A player who is 17, being RPed at as if they are a kid just hitting puberty at 13. -------- I just don't see any real benefits to showing a word description for someone's age, instead of a number, aside from the potential of allowing questionable age edits that people are unaware of, which hasn't happened to my knowledge, but is still the sole 'benefit' I can picture from the description age over a numerical one. RE: Revert the age display to numerical values - Milly - 04-16-2020 If someone is 17 and is being RP'd at as if they're 13 then that's a mistake of the person RPing at them. 13-15 == Young Teenager 16-17 == Teenager RE: Revert the age display to numerical values - ~Aoria-sama~ - 04-16-2020 I don't see an issue with it--In fact, I like it. It prompts conversation and asking how old someone is, instead of just knowing. RE: Revert the age display to numerical values - InThePooPoo - 04-16-2020 I think the low end of “Teenager” needs to be brought down to 15 at least. A 15 year old will look much older than a 13 or 14 year old usually, due to the nature of growth spurts, while a 16 year old will not look much older than a 15 year old. RE: Revert the age display to numerical values - Mouse - 04-16-2020 it's not like age matters that much, if at all. a general 'age category' is visually better(imo). feels like having a numerical value just leads to people being super specific and anal about verbing. RE: Revert the age display to numerical values - Method T - 04-16-2020 I mean, I do understand the whole idea of an age category providing a bit more nuance to RP beyond having a number, however, I've never really seen it used to that purpose, even up until now. Teenagers are treated as defacto teens, Young Teens are treated as children, Young Adults/Adults are generally lumped as 'You are Grown up' in a pile, and Elders are just old dudes. The only time I believe this age category over numerical age business was valuable, was when there was percentile DR loss based on your age, and it varied for each year. Now it is purely, 'Are you Young Adult or older?' 'If yes, you're fine. If no, you have -10% DR', which I feel wouldn't really change anyone's opinion when it comes to verbing and being anal about it. Again, I'll state, I like the idea of age categories, but I don't see them used much if at all, and I feel like having a number to attribute to a character's life adds more into RP than a generic 'Adult'. RE: Revert the age display to numerical values - Iceshadow - 04-16-2020 ooh, what are we arguing about now RE: Revert the age display to numerical values - Hated - 04-16-2020 its like you need to roleplay I.D'ing the 4' felinae or kitsune for their age before simping RE: Revert the age display to numerical values - Jodashi - 04-16-2020 Personally, I think the old age as number thing was neat, especially since people can no longer complain and be like "Hurr durr he only beat me cuz hes one year older!!!" Since all people below 18 have 10% DR. That being said... Please bring back the DR numbers for kids. They are kids, not soldiers. (Yes I know a magi child is still strong but by that logic they'll be fighting other Magi, who as adults should be stronger.) RE: Revert the age display to numerical values - Doohl - 04-16-2020 my only complaint is that Teraphim aren't locked into Young Adult after hitting 18+ I don't wanna see "Elder" Teraphim, I want to see "Young Adult" 80 year old Teraphim |
