The Duchess herds droves of sharkfinned mermaids, razor-toothed anguill and meek, furred selkie into Nereides' Temple of Yama.
Garbed in unoutstanding plainclothes but her coronet and a blue flower nested in her hair, she rumouredly makes a starkly different, starkly uncharacteristic proclaimation.
Words find themselves penned in no exactly accurate transcription, but as is expected of a proclamation to an entire isle ..
    
.. something makes it's rounds on the grapevine.

"Can she even do that?"
"Is that even legal?"
  
Whispers make the rounds.. why would the Duchess breach the terms of her covenant and commit treachery?
Conclusions point to various different possibilities: she is sick, she is cursed, or having a bad weekend.
The question of whether or not she is serious or not weighs in the air.

There is a smaller, muted announcement that makes the rounds on the Isle of Nereides.
One that eases the tension of it's people well enough and sees the Temple of Yama promptly reopened.

Some small smattering of rain lets up, a line-up of faithful sharks and whales halting their protest on the borders.
