Theori, the DM guy? - Theori - 03-05-2020 Key: TheoDM Event Preferences: Lore based, without combat by verbing. Come to me if you like the idea of riddles (sometimes time based), puzzles or redtext-based combat that rewards creative/tactical thinking to advance through events, not verbing. Contact Information: Theori#5636 Anything Else: For the moment, I'd prefer events with 1-4 participants! Also, not currently running CoD events. RE: Theori, the DM guy? - Milly - 05-07-2020 Key/Character: Ophelia cos Montclaire / Milly!!#1888 Which Event: Nevermelt my Heart Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): Very quick to respond! Even when I asked a question in LOOC. 10/10 Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): For what I was after and given I was solo, there wasn't any battle; but the pun battle was colden. Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): I enjoyed the story very much, stumbling upon the camp of cannibals was.... Fucking wild. I can't believe I found the donner party's camp. Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?) Perfectly fair given I was just after a single piece of dev material to go towards a bow. Overall: 10/10 Any other comments: Thank you Theori! It was fun!! RE: Theori, the DM guy? - TopRa - 08-19-2020 Key/Character: Lumin Montclaire/ Ramen#4577 Event: The Chaos of Winter Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): Yup! Very quick to respond and cleared up things very well whenever there was confusion. Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): The one battle that was done during the event was really fun and balanced. Considering it was a CoI it wasn't too hard to get through. The traps were also placed fairly well. Even if we didn't get to spring any because of our lucky rolls Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): I enjoyed the story very much. Especially considering that it was a sort of sequel to Ophelia's own event and tied up a loose end that was in that one. Having Lumin deal with the same enemy his mother had was...really poetic and cool to see Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?) In my opinion, Theori was fair regarding their punishments and they were justified. Even if the one on Ulfric did seem just a teensy bit harsh. It wasn't anything that really made me think that they were being unfair in any way. Considering that we both had really bad rolls, I think that they were justified. Overall: 10/10 Any other comments: Thanks so much for running my event! I hope we can do another one together next time. (Also please don't send those things to my house like you said you would if i didn't rate you please god) RE: Theori, the DM guy? - ~Aoria-sama~ - 08-19-2020 Key/Character: Ulfric cos Salis / ~Aoria-sama~#6707 Event: The Chaos of Winter Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): Responses were quick, albeit a bit short. I felt like there could have been -a bit- more description, but it was still pleasant. Very responsive to things that were unclear. Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): There was only one battle. It was a good, challenging fight. T Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): It was good for Lumin specifically. Creepy monster! I just wish there was a bit more to it, personally. Maybe a bit of backstory of the monster? More descriptive to really enthrall me into a world of unknown? It was good, but it was lacking in some areas. I didn't feel submerged in another world. Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?): I only came into one punishment. Ulfric had to figure out how to use a hammer, rope, and pitons to get up the side of a cliff. He decided to be creative and tie the hammer to the end of the rope, and try to lasso it around a tree. Due to a bad roll, the hammer came back at him and whacked him in the head. Which yeah- I agree punishment is deserved. However that being said, a -20 vit INJURY, no. I don't think that is justified. How I would suggest leveling out bad decisions? Ask them to power down -5vit, or directly remove -5 vit from them. -20 is excessive for being smacked with a hammer, in my opinion. Overall: 7/10 Any other comments: Please don't take offense to my review! I wanted to be honest, just as I would want someone to be honest with me. ^-^ A little more practice as a DM and you'll be awesome! I had fun nevertheless! RE: Theori, the DM guy? - Theori - 08-30-2020 Open for business. Please refer to my event preferences before messaging me, because I'll feel bad saying no ![]() RE: Theori, the DM guy? - ry0un0suke - 10-19-2020 Key/Character: Ry0un0suke/Matryona pyr Aertas
Which Event: Retrieve and Retaliation
Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?)
Very quick! At one point he afked cause of irl and we had family shenanigans but it was no real problem at all. They were very thorough.
Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?):
I've never done an event with zero PVP. It was a little refreshing and a focus entirely on choices. A lot of attention was paid to our actions and it reflected in injuries and traps, which were plentiful to make up for the lack of PVP. I enjoyed this quite a bit.
Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?)
We all know Theori is a lore goblin. There was a really, really good twist at the end and tied in nicely to a more subtle plot in the current timeskip. I look forward to expanding on it.
Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?)
Really made your actions matter, and RNG.
Overall: 10/10
Any other comments:
Pretty neat. I will come for more lore.
RE: Theori, the DM guy? - ludster - 10-19-2020 Key/Character: Ludicha / Amelia Locke pyr Aertas Event: Retrieve and Retaliate Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): Fairly quickly! There was a slight hiccup and had to step away for a few minutes, but the reasoning was an emergency so it's completely understandable. Regardless, we made do, had a bit of planning during that period and things went smoothly right after.
Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): The obstacles were actually pretty entertaining! The system applied made me try more unconventional approaches to certain things in hopes to appease the DM for that sweet sweet +1 to the roll.
Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): The event's prompt was fairly simple and didn't offer much save for the mystery of the perpetrators. Yet the setting itself was very nice. I was hoping for Flooded District from Dishonored and I got Flooded District from Dishonored (with the rats and all). The twist at the end on who stole the documents was extremely unexpected. I honestly had to take a double take from that.
Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?): Bad choices and bad luck essentially meant a bad time. Theori's system also advocates for putting effort in creative ways to advance forward, since I feel you could get rewarded (and punished) depending on how you move on forward. Of course there's the effect of randomness in there due to rolls, but that's what makes an event an event.
Overall: 10/10, would ask Theori to run family teambuildings again. RE: Theori, the DM guy? - Nym - 11-18-2020 Key/Character: Nym! Which Event: Picking up the scattered grove! Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): First event? It was great! The responces were rapid too. Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): No fights of course, but the puzzles were challenging, Honestly I was scratching my head more than a few times. Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): I loved every thing about it truth be told. I'm a sucker for lore! Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?) For something that isn't really talked about? I enjoyed it a bunch. It gives me really cute ideas for the future! Overall: 11/10 Any other comments: Thank you Theori! It was fun to learn about something I don't...think anyones done yet! RE: Theori, the DM guy? - Loved - 11-18-2020 Key/Character: Nox(Cracked Love#3386) Event: Picking up the scattered Grove! Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): Fast response time. If anything, Me and Nym took longer than their narrates did; especially on one particular puzzle that we had to really spend about an hour on to make sure we didn't turn into potatoes. Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): Somehow we had the most obvious obstacle and I still managed to make us lose our fingernails for a year.... 10/10 Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): Short, simple, and it taught me the lesson that if you mess up with Mother Nature then Gaia will hit you like a Mother with a Chancla in hand. 10/10 Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?): Bad choices got you messed up, good choices had you not so messed up. Even though it was entirely puzzle-based (Or maybe we just avoided any combat scenarios?) It was enjoyable. Overall: 10/10, But please don't remove my fingernails that is mentally disturbing... RE: Theori, the DM guy? - BigBossRabbit - 01-22-2021 Key/Character: BigBossRabbit/Trife Event: Vale and Beyond Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): Fast response time. Really fast, actually posted things within minutes our everyone's group posts, taking theirs into account obviously. Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): The battle was pretty fair, after an adjustment that didn't count. I didn't feel like I was attacking a giant sprite and no transformations. Simple and to the point. Didn't feel cheated, or overpowered. Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): I learned something OOCly that I did not think I needed to know. It was pretty fun, especially as it got closer the end. Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?): Fair fight, pretty easy puzzle imo. I would like more puzzles personally in the future. Also gave me a little time to shine. (Apparently two people were stumped on the spot?) Overall: 10/10, Fun for the whole family.
