The Anomie of the Nightmare Anew, a Living Hel [Skarnfel v. Aphros] - GSM - 09-22-2023 ![]() Talks abound of a moot being formed, a grand meeting of all of Meranthe's nations being forced together. Skarnfel had been a malignant cancer, growing and growing until it could no longer be ignored. While there was indeed a lull in the activity of the fel legion, it would not last. The death of Enarath exacerbated the worsening symptoms; with a single casualty, the Demon Lord of the Fel Garden's slaying had worked the horde into an insurmountable frenzy. To think the demons wouldn't act upon such an impulse while the rest of the world stared it down was a fool's errand. The abyss began to warble and expand, the Shadowlands and its immediate surroundings overcome with darkness and despair. Demons would attack more brazenly, almost suicidally, in a rage unseen before. Undead would be raised by the sheer negative energy in the lands, adding to further tragedies. Whereas one could assume this was a mere abnormality in their behavior, it would turn out to be anything but. The skies themselves would blacken as color would be stripped, like flesh from bone. He who would cast the first stone would aim it at the kin-slayers and hypocrites, one and all. The demonic legion continued to rise, growing and changing in the Era of Change that Na'Ria had brought. It was too late for things to quiet down, and innately, they knew this. Where once the armies of the damned marched to seize the contents of the Aphrosian libraries, now they marched to purge it all in Helflame. Those undeserving of Knowledge's blessing would be given no quarter. The Demon King's soft voice graced those in Aphros, the Imperfect tapping the mass mind to awaken all within it, puncturing the mindspace like a nail driven through wood. Even though the voice was soft, a forgotten wrath is seeped into their tongue, whispers of unnerving truth now serving as a herald to the End. The End of Aphros was nigh. Quote: Raid Objective: End Aphros
A single mention further is given. The voice is continuously carried along psionic bursts of blackening Grey, only to meet a similar instance. The Oracle would hear the voice of the Demon King, bridled with a fury beyond fury. Yet, it was righteous; for it was the blessed of Change. Quote: Personal Objective: Break the Oracle

RE: The Anomie of the Nightmare Anew, a Living Hel [Skarnfel v. Aphros] - RavenZxro - 09-22-2023 ![]() As the Demon King's call to action made its way throughout the shadowlands in the wake of the events surrounding The Death of The Second Death, owls soared in a circular formation above Aphros while an army composed of both demons and individuals bearing The Owl's feather brand embarked on a slow and steady march toward Aphros along side with the other forces of Skarnfel. Their objective was clear.
The time for war had arrived.

RE: The Anomie of the Nightmare Anew, a Living Hel [Skarnfel v. Aphros] - Daeut - 09-24-2023 ![]() On the eve of the demonic Archon's declaration, there was silence. A stillness and panic those of the Twilight City knew all too well, as though they had rehearsed for this eventuality many times before. Inculcated in the collective consciousness of the Asperan many was their role and duty as a bulwark of flesh and steel against the inexorable tides of Man's manifested sin.
Yet this silence was not one of resignation, or an acknowledgment of the darkness that would soon beset the people of Dawn and Dusk.
It was the silence of focus and preparation. Anticipation in the light of enemy initiative stolen from under their noses, well armed towards a single undertaking of their own. Luminaries of every nation showed themselves in the War Hall of Aphros, the selfsame chambers in which the Empire of Vdalion once conjured its plan to vanquish the demonic threat, to reach a unanimous agreement:
The Enemies of Man must die.
Unity, the likes of which had not been seen since Jokul's reign--and perhaps beyond it--found ground during the Summit. A Crusade comprised of every possible nation in Meranthe, with the single goal of quashing the organized forces of Helheim from its borders once and for all.
Aphros provided the staging point, and its Bastion a spearhead into the encroaching shadows. Delphina committed itself to its single stated goal of removing the taint of demonkind. The Enclave set aside its differences, giving its all as Pylae's lightening arrow to pierce the storm, and act as both a blade and aegis under oath. Audhild put the past behind itself with the determination to see the lands expunged of its most imminent peril. And the mercenary group Goldlight to render its services free of charge. Each and every one of them sworn to the defense of the Asperan Church, and to stave off the main bulk of Skarnfel's army with numbers and strength to eclipse those of Helheim. To preclude them from any greater foothold than they have already achieved. A united front of nations to protect Meranthe's main bulwark, while the rest of Meranthe embarks elsewhere on a campaign to retake from the divided and diverted enemy few. The forces of Helheim would soon be reminded the might of a united Meranthe.
... A single psionic message returned to the Archon in kind.
It relayed with the static scrape of the Warden's Aether only few had the displeasure of experiencing.

RE: The Anomie of the Nightmare Anew, a Living Hel [Skarnfel v. Aphros] - Heimdalic_Dreams - 09-29-2023 ![]() Within the Church entrance, settled with the weight of the world upon his massive ebon wings and shoulders, stood a man of grim face and determined eyes. He spoke firmly to those who surrounded him, the Blood Knights own leather appendages stiff with formality whilst the Baron of what was once Blood Rose spoke. In his golden eyes glowed a promise, a commitment, every word a slab of earth into the injured wounds of all which they had last. A forced mend in too short a time. ___

The Bloodknights of Blood Rose peel their eyes away from the island what once was Blood Rose, focused now as clear as ever upon Aphros, in clear defense.
They know what they desire, yet the loyalty and care their Baron holds for this Church and City, will never be enough to truly show his love. Objectives: Defend Aphros! Defend the Church! Defend the Oracle! RE: The Anomie of the Nightmare Anew, a Living Hel [Skarnfel v. Aphros] - Chance - 10-02-2023 The grand invasion heralded by the Demon King Na'Ria was overwhelming; many soldiers were trampled and felled by the demons and the acolytes that swarmed the district. Even the splinter attack that sought to divide the forces with the advantage of the Alliance's numbers wasn't enough to eek out a victory.
It was a hard won, difficult battle. Skarnfel's forces managed to slowly force their enemies to retreat further and further into the interior of their city, until the district was theirs. It was razed, and Aphros was burning: The Cathedral collapsed, and its bell was buried beneath the rubble, silenced.
Vera Cruz was set to the torch, ransacked by the invaders.
And yet, it couldn't be called a victory. Na'Ria's rival, the solemn Oracle Lirael, against all odds managed to best the Storyteller, claiming their heart. And before her eyes, the Time Lord Xarxes took the lives of Palade Avincus and Edward Aubreen; the Demon King did not live much long after that. The battlefield froze in its entirety, and not a single sword clashed in that period of loss and mourning.
(Vera Cruz's destruction is imminent; residents have an OOC courtesy of 48 hours before the buildings in Vera Cruz are destroyed)
