The Village of Dexia - Nova Lycan - 06-06-2023 ![]() A home to larger than life personalities, a small slice of the mountain where everybody knew everybody.
South of the mountain, south of Vdalion, there existed a village that was not known to many and yet was too impressive to forget. This village was known as Dexia, though before it got it's name, it's was just some nameless village that was being both occupied and terrorized by a monster and his brood. In those times, there weren't much giants down that way, as a lot of them had moved to better places to start new lives, but there was one giant that refused to move. This man who was born shorter than most giants even when assuming his race's gift, was known as Dexus and he, after pulling together a strong group of non-giants, led a charge against the monster in an attempt to free the nameless village.
And they succeeded, though in the final stretches of the fight the Lord of The Small would succumb to his injuries and tragically pass away. In light of this, the village recognized his strength, courage, and morals and chose to model their own values after it. They even named their village after his name in honor of him.
Since those days, the village had started getting better. Building more, strengthening themselves, and becoming better people in general. Those that used to not be so friendly would start smiling and sharing more, becoming more social, more caring. More protective of their neighbors. There would even come those that would similarly embody the person Dexus was. People like The General, a mountain of a man that stood and fought hordes of demons to protect his home, and when he died it was said that it rained for a week because the gods were upset at his passing. People like Santana, a woman so beautiful that she could make the most faithful man lose his way, and yet her petty streak when crossed was even worse. It was safe to say that anyone that came from Dexia was essentially unique in their ways. After all, it was a far cry from what Vdalion was on the surface, I mean they wear interesting hats and talk weirder, or perhaps that was just part of what made them more charming.
The place wasn't perfect mind you, there were faults, like the Drakanites that were more like purist in regards to religion, the occasional feral beastkin and the like. The giants weren't like those up north. They would still experience attacks from monsters and even demons, and while they weren't built for such things as wars or large catastrophic events, they held their own. They survived, and for the longest time Dexia stood strong. Stood tall. Everyone stuck together because everyone knew everyone, and despite how different they were it was home because at the end of it all the teachings of Dexus was still ingrained within them. Sadly, one fateful incident would occur that would take that all away.
Ragnarok
In one night, while an epic battle took place that shook the foundation of Meranthe, a single cataclysmic volcanic eruption destroyed that village. Killed so many and left the rest homeless. Refugees. Those people went on to try and rebuild, and while it's worked for the most part, they're still struggling after all this time. Though they'll find their way again, it's only a matter of time. Because like everything in life much like how Dexus freed the once nameless village, something good will eventually happen, and when it does? Better days will follow.
