Dragonseekers - Nailman - 01-08-2023

The dragons of Old have not been paid the proper respect. Long have their inheritors been allowed to walk the lands of Meranthe.
No more.

The Dragonseekers arise as an organization bound exclusively to those of drakanite heritage, preaching the glories of their blood and ways to achieve their old glory, yet wanting to avoid what had been used by failures that came before them. Instead, they pursue alternate methods to establish their position in this world.

• GOALS & DETAILS •
The Dragonseekers wish to achieve the true glory of their heritage, albeit not declaring direct worship to the Divine Five.

They are not a religious cult, but rather a kinship with the objective to propel each other's goals. Little else is cared for, with the sole exception of trampling each other, but there's methods to solve it.

Instead, they see them as nothing but parents of old; All Drakanites are part of the same family, treated as kindred.

Unfortunately for a certain few, unclean and unworthy samples of their species are qualified as failures; And as such, they're primary targets. What qualifies one as unclean and unworthy often is the disdain or disregard for their own heritage, or unwillingness to cooperate with the purpose of ascending kin.

Dragons are not exempt to this rule, should their existence be a disfavor to their species as a whole.

They value a typical honor code, despite everything; To assert their own will as dragons comes as part of their pride, and they should never allow themselves to be talked down to. Fights are to rarely be avoided unless the outlook is hopeless, and even then consideration is to be had. Those who need guidance and assistance are to be helped, as well as to never dishonor an oath taken.

Above all, the directive is simple:

FEW THINGS ARE SACRED. TO FIGHT IS TO LIVE, AND THE STRONGEST MAY SEIZE WHATEVER THEY COVET.

The Dragons mobilize themselves; The self-proclaimed dragonslayer Orphee sends for the same messages to be planted in whatever billboards manage to be found.

• RANKING & RULES •
The Dragonseekers are made with the sole purpose of gathering a league of the most capable Drakanites in order to aid each other in their ascension. Through ruthlessness or kindness, it matters not - Every worthy drakanite deserves the right to shoot for one position of the Chosen.

Primarily, the Dragonseekers are a council of Chosen by the Divine Dragons; The title is less literal than it seems. They are but maximal representations of an aspect of their species, often attuning themselves closer to one or another Divine Dragon themselves - Despite worship being far from the purpose of the organization. So far, the Chosen are...
  • Aeledfyr - Fire Dragon, He who made the First Star – Orphee
  • Fahldrex - Earth Dragon, He who traced the Cosmos – None
  • Nyssa - Wind Dragon, She who wove the Lifestream – Versilia
  • Saewylm - Water Dragon, She who filled the Oceans – None

To join the ranks of the Chosen, one must prove themselves capable of being a representative of their race; Gauged by a majority of the council as a potential dragon.

Above all, the Chosen of Aeledfyr puts forth some rules that have been agreed upon and that ought to be respected:
  • The Dragonseekers are not a faction in their own right. Each Dragonseeker, Chosen or not, may represent whatever faction they so please
  • Should two Chosen find themselves on opposite ends of a war, they have to fight among themselves, to gauge each other as dragons.
  • Those who are not Chosen may still join as ascendants, but the treatment given to those unworthy depends on the Chosen themselves.

There is still a reminder of a grim reality of this world:

FEW THINGS ARE SACRED. TO FIGHT IS TO LIVE, AND THE STRONGEST MAY SEIZE WHATEVER THEY COVET.

With the recent coming of wyverns to rest on the mountaintop, the Dragonseekers come to light once again. Announcements are to be made by Jarl Orphee of Vdalion, now gone with the name of Orphee Dawnseeker.

The Dragonseekers face a major rebranding, as well; While their purpose ultimately befits no nation, there is an open message for all. Vdalion is to be the home of Dragonkind, for under the banner of the Empire over the Mountain, the dragons have found their home. Most notably, the Jarl now openly declares that the Dragonseekers are after fostering the hopes and ascension of a new generation.

Their values remain the same. The worthiness of drakanites and dragons should be measured in blood, and most other religions that worship the dragons would consider them heretics, if only for the fact that they actively encourage dragon hunting by their own ranks as a means of proceeding closer to the will of dragons, as means of proving themselves worthy of sitting amidst their ancient counterparts.

Currently, they organize in ranks as follows:
Servants, those who are not of dragon descent or who have been offered being spared in exchange of service. They can lose this rank, but it's oft maintained by one of the higher rankings.
Whelps, those of dragon blood within who have accepted their heritage, yet seek not the glory of their blood- Or who are simply too young to pursue it. Those are afforded peace, and spared the brutal rituals from those of ranks above theirs.
Ascendants, which are those of dragon blood who proved their worth; Who considered themselves capable, and willing to take the strength they seek by force if they have to.
Chosen, those who have come to be respected as embodying the aspect of one of the divine dragons in full.

Any who wish to claim their true fate can talk to the jarl Orphee Dawnseeker, oft atop the mountains of Vdalion, if not encountered amidst the wilds.

Word among the street cites that they might have an egg on the verge of hatching, as well.

The directive remains:

FEW THINGS ARE SACRED. TO FIGHT IS TO LIVE, AND THE STRONGEST MAY SEIZE WHATEVER THEY COVET.

Additionally, word comes out. A bounty is put.
