The Warden of Fate
#1
As some know, fate and time are closely linked. Those that follow the weave of the stars might even believe that fate is predetermined. That none can chart a path that is not already laid out. Thus, then, time must flow towards those fates without alteration. Without change. However, both time magi and seers are quick to point out how both the flow of time and fate can be changed. Diverted. Primarily in small ways, of course... There are many events that loom in the future that are so large that they can seem to be impossible to get away from. But individuals often can yet affect the flow.

However, there are those who are not satisfied with the small changes that they can enact by making different choices. They desire greater control, greater influence, and so will often seek to manipulate time itself in order to change fate. Oneiros, the Master of Fate is one such individual that sought such power. Stealing an unwritten page from Memoria, this Nethradin gained the power to alter time and fate. Cultists and witches of Oneiros, and others inspired by such acts, might seek their own ways of changing the flow of time to their own benefit.

That is not, however, to say that the flow of time is undefended. Champions of Memoria and Gala both seek to preserve the proper way of things. Their priests, their faithful, safeguard much in the world. And some few go beyond, leaving this world behind to become eternal wardens of Fate and Time.

It is said that one such Warden, tied deeply to Memoria, can yet be contacted by those in Meranthe. To those attuned to the flow of fate, and in places where such things are stronger, they can call upon this strange spirit for advice or aid. Some claim this spirit was once a citizen of Meranthe, whilst others believe it is merely a manifestation of time's whims. But spiritmancers who look towards the flow of fate do occasionally mention a strange entity that seems more concerned with the fate of Meranthe than most.
