Throwing Items

Can we get a command/button to toggle between being able to throw stuff out of your inventory(via drag and drop) and just dropping it like we used to be able to? Sometimes you drop something for someone and it just goes flying across the universe, even when you put your cursor on your icon, so... Yeah.
