Transitioning away from ability apps
#15
I do not like this. While it does certainly give more defined qualifications for signatures, tying it so tightly to factions and events... kind of fucks over a lot of people. Many people got sigs not because they were some bigwig in a faction throwing weight around, but because they were an interesting character with a compelling storyline, even if they didn't take center stage.

Not all of us are John Eternia Battlegod, and getting a private event is basically hell if you aren't OOC friends with the DM. It also causes contention among the faction positions where it didn't need to exist. Even with the appreciator quest, people do not commend often. We forget it even exists. I've got 5 commends in 1102 hours, and I'm ACTIVE. I know people who have been around for a very long time with less.

Further, how does this work for things like demons or magical beasts, who almost always aren't faction members and can't gain influence? I just think it's better if the sig is tied to if someone has had an impact on the people around them. There's a lot more to Eternia than just throwing hands. And further, it divorces the sig from its dev, which should also be something earned in character.
