Soul Drain - A Drain That's Too Much!

Hi, Kazuki here! Yes, this is another suggestion to get a spell not "nerfed" but balanced! Let's start with the spell in question.

Soul Drain


Why this spell is being looked at? I'm glad you asked! Let's see what we have here:
  • 10 Spell Damage
  • -20% DR
  • Has a DoT
  • Is instant with no indication
  • Heavy Slow
  • Relatively low CD
  • High Range(?)
Now! This is an Intermediate spell! With these types of stats, I would assume it was exalted or higher. This is an insane amount of benefits that are given with the tier that it is in. With the stats that it says in-game is a whole lie. As seen here:

Soul Drain
A dastardly spell, used for stealing the ambient energy and color from a poor unfortunate soul.
Spell damage: 0
Mana cost: 25
Cooldown: 25s
Range: 8

I also think if it is going to stay like this, it is raised a tier or we could see what I personally think the stats should be.


  • 10 Spell Damage - 8 Spell Damage
  • -20% DR - -5% DR or -10% DR
  • Has a DoT - Doesn't need this.
  • Is instant with no indication -This doesn't really matter much but some sort of indication maybe?
  • Heavy Slow - Remove slow or make it a very light slow or lower its slow duration. The slow sets up the fact it takes away so much dr way too well...
  • Relatively low CD - Raise the CD higher no questions asked.
  • High Range(?) - This one needs to be tested but I am sure it is higher from our many many victims. So lower it.

The fact that this is Hemorrhage, Wither, and Bang all in one spell as an Intermediate is kind of BUSTED and needs to be adjusted quickly. Keep your FRIENDLY thoughts below. Thank you!

Just app'd for this today and I actually agree this is pretty strong.

Make it weaker to give Occult some needed CC. DR suggestion is fine, though making it a good slow should be the priority here as the occult tree lacks anything like that. If it's nerfed with lower DR reduction I don't think it needs that much more nerfing. Maybe less damage too, occult gets already a lot of easy mode homings. Let's not enable more low energy kite builds.

Post-nerf, make it non-app with a holy counterpart. Kinda boring to app for this thing but I see why people do it, it's absolutely worth it. But by nerfing it, I don't think it's worth app'ing for. That's just me, though.

It doesn’t have a DoT

It deals only 10 spell damage

The slow lasts 5 seconds

Icy talons does just as much damage

Less than -20 dr I assure you

It literally turns you black as an indicator

Really not that far range

That's good. We're getting somewhere.

Edit: Also, I'm sorry if the stats I have up there are wrong/different. I'm just going off of what people who have it or have gone against it have said.
